touch wood... I'm in the clear, thus far.

It is an interesting observation. From the Workshop Manual:
"The system will temporarily inhibit height adjustments when the vehicle is subject to cornering, heavy acceleration or heavy braking. The inhibit function prevents unsettling of the vehicle."
and
The air suspension control module has two ride height tolerance bands; normal tolerance and tight tolerance.
The tolerance bands are as follows: Normal ± 10 mm Tight ± 3 mm.

I wonder if those experiencing this situation have modified their Ride Height Sensors and somehow the vehicle thinks "Tight Tolerance Mode" is fitting?

Or as you suggest...the valves are sticking.

The thing is "tight tolerance" mode is not an arbitrary option for the system.

It's a service mode setting only, and used during wheel alignment procedures to prevent the vehicle making height changes as a result of inputs by the technician. The red suspension warning lamp is illuminated whilst this mode is selected which is done via diagnostics.

Having said that, if the control module was to somehow select this arbitrarily, I would imagine it would have considerable affect on the suspension from a driving perspective. Thumbs Up

I'm very sorry for the very slow response to this, I cannot quite believe we're almost knocking on April's door.

At this stage the only thing I can say is that I've got a new battery sat here as well as a new ride level module. Not good that the vehicle has trashed this battery in just over a year. It did have a new earth strap in January, so perhaps that previously had an effect on poor charging?? Could also be that it was only reset on the BCM and not the gateway when it was changed.

Anyway, I'll post back soon. Just got to get these parts fitted and go from there. Please don't give up people. It's incredibly frustrating but there is a solution out there.

I want to share my observations, we also continue to struggle with the problem of hard LR suspension in my chat https://t.me/NiiLRD3, some members of the group succeeded, after updating the program of the suspension control unit, the car became soft, as it should have been initially, but after some time after updating the firmware, a week later, the car became hard again. I think, I am sure, that the problem is at the software level. Sorry for my English, I hope I got my point across

New battery didn't help, I actually ended up with more faults! Starting to really question the integrity of the electronics in this car.

Scope creep and wrongful root cause analysis??

"A new battery" is almost irrelevant unless it was guaranteed to read 12.6v+ at time of installation. When that reading was done, the battery should not have been on a charging device for 6 hours.

..... There are no errors at all. I've also noticed that when the suspension is stiff, the engine vicomuff starts spinning to full power a lot when you start driving. It doesn't when it's soft.

Hi, I have an L320 with the same issues. Trying to collate all the info. I do not know what a vicomuff could be, Google has no clue. Anyone?

This is a mistake. I meant the engine viscous coupling (cooling fan)

Ahh, thanks for the clarification. I had noted a lot of noise from my transmission but it has had this and the suspension issue since I bought it. I replaced all dampers, the old ones were shot. A little better but still grit my teeth going over small bumps. I plan to try recording live values over the same drive, before and after pulling the suspension relay that I think you suggested gives temporary normal driving. Have to fix a blown injector seal first.

When I go to the car it’s ride hight is good. Start up and drive and the suspension feels good then after a mile or two it goes hard and you can feel every bump in the road. Sometimes when you stop driving and park up,leave the car for a while then drive off again it feels normal them goes hard after a few miles. My garage has a snap on diagnostic but it’s not showing any fault codes. Tyre pressures all good and ride hight in spec. Any ideas anyone. Thanks

Check the wheel speed sensor resistance value
