SideStep Aluminium Trim Removal |
|
Hi all,
I have recently bent the aluminium trim on my side step. I have bought the replacement trim from SideSteps.co.uk but need to remove the current one. It looks like it is held in with rivets from getting under and shining a torch.
Any easy tips to remove the rivets and the trim so I can put the new one on?
Cheers,
Tom

Did mine last year and it was easier to remove the whole side step. Rivets drilled out easy enough but the new trims need a good set of clamps to get them pulled in tight and centred. Main reason for taking them of is that they are normally pretty corroded on underside and under the plastic top side so you can give them a good clean up and paint at the same time.
Be carefull removing the bolts securing the steps as the can be seized as I found out and snapped one drilled out though easily enough. IID Tool
