Evening All,
Not sure this is in the correct section but I cannot post in the fault and fixes section..
So this morning I got into the discovery and all was fine and had been fine for the past 2 weeks or so when all of a sudden I get a transmission fault, select gears only and then suddenly total loss of everything, power steering, etc.
The car needed fuel and was nigh on empty but I was en route to the petrol station(approx 2 miles from home) suspected if was the fuel so put 15L in and still nothing happened.
Called the AA and hour and started waiting later, this was at 6:30 this morning!
After about an hour I tried starting again and what do you know it bound back to life, attempted to get home and about 1 mile away the same issue happened but this time a restart cleared it.
Got home safe and the AA arrived and checked through all the belts and noticed the power cable to the ECU was lose! Tightened the nut, gave the battery and alternator a check over and they passed with flying colours, ran a diagnostic on it and read an ECU short, cleared all faults took, went for a test drive while they hung around and problem seems to be solved!
Seems so daft that a simple lose but could cause such an issue and I blame the last service company but in case this may assist anyone in the future!
Thanks

Is was the main power cable coming from the battery terminal to the ECU power. Don’t have a photo to hand but it’s a 10mm nut on the top of the battery ( red terminal)
