LR spot lamps

I have a pair of genuine spot lamps that I got with a soft nudge bar, but they are badly in need of tlc, the seals inside the house have all perished..
Has anyone taken them apart and removed the silicone, then what did did you use to seal the housing again? Would a hard drying silicone solve it?
The seal holds the plastic shroud and the glass in position.
