Suspension fault - which will disappear if you switch off

This has happened twice in about three weeks.

First time I was reversing out of a car parking space when it threw up a suspension fault 30 mph max normal height only.

About two weeks later it just randomly happened going round a roundabout, normal height only no speed problem mentioned. I pulled over switched off and back on and it was gone.

Do I have a faulty sensor or a component on its way out, I have plugged it in to and no fault codes as yet, I will plug it in again once it happens if a code is there.

I'm stuck for ideas.

What code reader are you using?

Hi and welcome.

When you cycle the ignition (on/0ff) any previous fault will be ignored until it has been logged again by the relevant control module, unless that is the fault represents a critical failure.(permanent)

The fault codes will be there, what diagnostic tool are you using? If generic forget about it you really need a LR dedicated tool. Thumbs Up

Thank you for your welcomes, love my d3.

I'm using a hawkeye total at present I've previously had a fault but cannot remember what it was stupidly, I'll take a photo next time.

Want to start ruling things out cheaply to start with, I'm going to start with a new suspension relay as they're cheap and easy to do.

Have you got an illuminated amber or red suspension lamp on the instrument binnacle, or is the driver info saying there is a fault?

In that case there has to be a live code logged. Try reading again and if no success you're going to need a better diagnostic tool.

I cleared the code so will have to wait for it to happen again.

No, the fault is there now otherwise you would not have the warning on the dash!

Depending on age, it is more than likely the compressor. You could start by refurbishing the reservoir valve block and then the front valve block. On my D3 I had a similar problem but after doing the reservoir valve block it went away for a few months. I then did the front valve block and found a couple of stuck valve internals. The end result though was to replace the compressor which fixed it. You can get a kit to overhaul the compressor.

I think it was gallery pressure issue so a new compressor is likely or in need of service maybe
