suspension fault codes

Hi got some strange dates on the codes any idea why ?
The truck has just had a new battery

This truck has a none functioning suspension and its been slowly getting lower over the last few months and I need to get it working any pointers from the codes?, Compressor failure?
These were the codes before clearing

Going by the dates are you sure you're not driving a DeLorean with some very odd looking appendages? Smile

Clear the lot of them and see what comes back after a drive. Make sure your battery is up to the task though as much of what your GAP tool is reporting suggests a poor battery. Do another diagnostic check afterwards and see what codes come back. Thumbs Up

Yes it had a poor battery it was replaced and a lot of the first codes must be from that
I cleared them and cycled the ignition ran it briefly and re reard it re read it (bottom of first post )

Yes the dates are strange

It does still drive its not quite on the bump stops yet

Check the battery voltage before you start engine (12.5v) or above. Then start it, clear existing faults and take it for a run until its fully warmed up.

Read the faults again and post them along with battery voltage.

12.5v when I got to it , charging at 14.9 v
I ran it around reread the codes and it was 13.2 when I turned of and re read the volts .

Both fuses are fine and the relay is as well

The suspension is dead and almost of the bump stops

OK so it looks a bit better but you still have a lot of electrical gremlins. It might be worth having a look at the earth straps just to rule them out.

As for the suspension you clearly have an electrical issue somewhere, you will have to get under there and have a look at the wiring and that of the range selector harness on the gearbox.

If you go to "live values" you can select the relevant system and see what the signals are which will help you narrow down the fault/s. The compressor can be rebuilt if the motor is still good, and if it's a Hitachi there is a complete rebuild kit available for it. AMK has less available but the drier/desiccant/filters are available and very easy to do. The small piston is nigh on impossible to access without special tools and will likely lead to the destruction of the unit without them.

Generally both makes are very robust and have strong motors which almost never need attention. (new compressor if they do) However, they do suffer if not serviced on time or have a system leak, as will the valve blocks as a result. You might be lucky if you can sort out the elec gremlins and rebuild the drier.

Whatever you do don't be tempted to buy cheap copies of either compressor or you will have to do it all again in a couple of months, if not a couple of weeks. Try swapping temporarily the compressor relay for another and see if it helps, but if it does don't just leave it at that!!

ok thanks noted.
i just went and picked it up to have it here to work on, i noticed that there are no lights on the raise and lower switch and the terrain response selector , do you know if that means anything?

ill rustle up some warm clothes and get out and have a fiddle see what i can find , i dont suppose there is a flow chart anywhere for this ?

and any info for which wires i can energize the compressor?

i really appreciate the help

No lights on the selectors would certainly confirm there's an electrical fault. "Live values" will be your friend here, so take your time and work through it. You can take screen shots and post them here.

You might have water ingress into the TCM which is located behind the battery causing the range selector issues. However, that wouldn't explain the suspension selector issue. Check the wiring first though as per my previous post and the earth straps as you will need to remove the battery to access the TCM.

I'd be reluctant to post anything on jumping the compressor until I know more about what's wrong.

Pay particular attention to the earth strap from the transfer case to the chassis. Don't just take a visual, inspect it closely for corrosion same applies with the other straps. Thumbs Up

haha it was pretty long wasnt it,

@ prof ok thanks, noted again ill look closer at the earth strap etc , thanks for the pointers, im a little rusty and really appreciate the directions i did look at a few of the live values but i didnt really know what to look for ,
im a retired old school landy tech give me a lt77 gearbox, or a tdi i can rebuild it, but electronics is not sth i know well but im learning being a d3 owner,

and this fix will give me the knowledge i need when my own needs doing

the broken pipe ive not looked where it goes yet hopefully not far, if u know which it is please say i need to order one i ran out of light today ,

the top bolt on the compressor is a Censored is there a way to get to it , under rear arch Censored shield off ? the top half of the plastic cover box seems to fowl access, does the top half wiggle out the way ?

Yeah the bolts rust into the captive nuts on the chassis rail. Undo the compressor bottom mounts (spray oil) and once everything is disconnected remove it that way. You will then be able to access the bracket bolts for which new captive nuts are available.

The toasted pipe is possibly as a result of the compressor overrunning and consequently overheating.
The compressor might be alright but you'll have to bench test it and rebuild it anyway. Personally given what you have posted I'd seriously be considering a new one as it's likely the original 07.

There might be enough pipe for you to cut and reattach, if not a new one is available.
