I also thought the egr PCM uses the MAP sensor to control the egr
Plus some handy dates , don’t know if there accurate
Euro 2 January 1996 – January 2000,
Euro 3 January 2000 – January 2005,
Euro 4 January 2005 – September 2009,
Euro 5 September 2009 – September 2014,
Euro 6 September 2014 On

On EU4 is it not meassured at the EGR itself?
Hi buddy , hope ur keeping well
Wondering if the EGRs PCM also uses the MAP, throttle position sensor and engine speed sensor

I would hazard a guess the engine ecu tells the egr when to operate and expects to see a difference in the exhaust gas content with the egr operating and when it doesnt see said difference it then flags a fault.

I didn't think there was an exhaust flow sensor.
I would only imagine such a sensor would be pointless, and prone to failure.
I suspect the ecu uses some other data, to duduce whether the EGR is working or not.
P.S Thanks GS.

Thks DM as always
All over my head , suppose its getting the general understanding how the system works
So is it the PCM ultimately reads the MAF then from that sends a signal from the PCM to the Egr solonoids which then control the amount of % they open or close
Sorry as always for the daft questions
Many thks

The ECUs decides when to open the egrs.
Eg.
When the engine has warmed up
And
When you are driving along
And
When the revs are between x and y
You get the idea
