Ladder roller options with ProSpeed rack

Often got a ladder on the roof rack now for work which isn’t doing to top of the boot any good.

What are others installing to avoid this?
The prospeed roller looks to sit too far forward to protect the rear edge of the boot.

Any suggestions / options most welcome .....

This is probably a useless suggestion but in order to avoid the exact same damage when sliding an oztent on and off, I lift the oztent up above my head at one end, place it onto the front of the rack, and then 'pivot' it from there walking towards the rear of the vehicle, holding it above my head until it's all on the rack, front to back. Hard to explain, hope it makes sense. Do the same thing with ladders (rarely, but it has been done). Probably difficult if you happen to be a real short Censored too.

I did used to use the top step of the rear ladder as a 'roller' in the way you're thinking but it ended up with a whole lot of oztent up in the air before it passed tipping point which could get caught in a gust of wind and fine this approach far more controllable.

Thanks James,

This ladder is 8m long and 22kgs so it's quite cumbersome to move around.
it's just easier and safer to load from upright and lean over to the rear of the roof, then lift up and on.

The other challenge I have is to minimise the additional height of the D3 when this (what ever the solution turns out to be)
In doing so it looks like the boot won't open fully so I'm now wondering if there is something I can add to the top rear edge of the boot?

am thinking something like this on the top rear surface of the boot door

I notice Halfords sell a roller
https://www.halfords.com/camping-leisure/r...tsid:94971|cid:1537737345|agid:58263523403|tid:pla-330973949258|crid:291898457267|nw:g|rnd:12768515897364587736|dvc:c|adp:1o1|mt:|loc:1007239&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIi629urym5AIVmM13Ch06agWMEAQYASABEgI-fvD_BwE

so there must be other black rollers out there to buy that I can fab some brackets for.........
