With regard to HDC, would it be possible to have an advisory on the info centre recommending HDC is applied, :

I thought that a magical green glowing icon comes on in the dash ...no ? Confused

There is an icon on the dash when HDC has come on, but I'd prefer it if HDC didn't come on with the programmes, but that the car recommended it instead. (In the same way as offroad height is recommended with some of the programmes, but doesn't automatically kick in with the programme.)

For me it's now second nature when going into M&R to hit the yellow button a few seconds later to kill HDC, but look at the number of posts where people haven't been aware that HDC has come on (being a green light it tends to get ignored) and have posted worried about the noise and the way the car grinds to a halt.

I'd argue that if you've been tuned than you get even more maximum Mr. Green Mr. Green even more of the time - try it without DSC....... Mr. Green Mr. Green Mr. Green

Rob, TR mapping will overide a tune map Wink

ND I know what you mean but if we all want different things from TR then it would be quite hard for LR to apply changes that are going to satisfy everyone. Some of their thinking must be balanced to those who don't do as much off-roading as some of us here IMO

I would really like to be able to access the Extended Mode manually. I'm fine with clicking an "I take responsibility for any damage that may be caused by selecting extended mode" agreement button, but I want to be able to manually use the full ground-clearance potential of the air suspension.

Cheers,
Florian

Agree, extended mode that was speed dependant to avoid most potential roll over issues would avoid most of the scrapes and bangs on rutted forest tracks.

Maybe even extended mode for a timed period, then a warning bong (like with Access Height) so you have the chance to keep it enabled if required.

Emergency extended can then be left for the D3 to decide.

DG, agree, just thought I'd throw it on the table as I know I'm not alone in finding HDC coming on with certain progs a PITA.

Hey, this could be our next bit of factional infighting as Black/Silver has been done to death Whistle

ORC1, firstly thanks for raising your head above the parapet and inviting our opinions. Very brave on your part, and very much appreciated!

Firstly, the different TR modes (and I've used 'em all for what they were intended for Thumbs Up ) are excellent. Best catch by TR so far in saving my bacon? I got overconfident on snow at a corner and I managed to start a side slide. I don't know how the system did it, but it felt like someone reached down, grabbed hold of the car, set it back on course and let go; Stunning Bow down

Naturally, I cant help myself when someone asks for feedback so I have some improvements to suggest:
In a slight disagreement with John C, I actually like where the current TR dial is, as I can grope for it and find it without taking my eyes off the road outside.
I'd like it if the centre of the TR button was the HDC control, so I didn't have to glance down to find it (the HDC button being flush it's hard to grope for).
I'd like it if the HDC wasn't automatically engaged, but was instead recommended as per low range.

I'd also like to see a few extra 'terrains' :
a) "Outback" - See the comments from our friends down-under; higher speed limit in extended mode.
b) "Jetwash/Tyre change" - Absolute utter maximum super extended height with a very low self-cancelling speed limit (5KPH).
c) "Urban" - More economical engine management for the School run Whistle

Finally, I'd find it very useful if that stern lady who lives in the Voice Command system could say what TR mode I'd selected, again, so I don't have to take my eyes off the road to read the info display.

Thank you for the opportunity! If any of your collegues are feeling as brave, I have several more improvements to suggest for some other areas of the car Thumbs Up

I am speaking as a complete novice, but I'm not so sure about this manual HDC idea. I'd rather get a reminder that I've left it on when it inconviniently brakes as I lift off the accelerator on a level track, rather than when I'm taboganing down a slippery slope reminding me I've left it off. Shocked
But I do like the idea of the TR knob being the HDC on/off switch so that it's easy to find.
I'd also like to see the suspension raise to off road mode automatically when in Mud & Ruts/Rock Crawl.

A very humble opinion.... Whistle

Snowy, I agree. HDC should be on by default.

Its not too hard to remember to turn it off if it gets in the way. Its very hard to remember to turn it on though after turning it off.

Personally I just leave it on and avoid coasting along with no throttle at all. Only the lightest touch will cancel it out. Its very useful if you have to change down in a manual as the D3 can suddenly pick up speed as soon as you dip the clutch.

HDC keeps things nicely in check Thumbs Up

How about an option in the settings menu so you can choose if HDC automatically comes on or not when you change TR mode? Surely everyone would be happy then Confused

I think you'll find it already does if you're in low range (which of course you have to be for Rock Crawl) Whistle
