Electric handbrake
Hi all
Just changed the rear discs and pads on my disco3, wound the hand brake adjusters off to remove discs and then readjusted. Now the hand brake is playing up, making a awful noise when I try to pull it on. Handbrake warning lights on as well. Sometimes it'll stay on and won't release unless I pull the cable under the button. Tried resetting the handbrake by what it's says on my snap on solus pro but still no luck. A local garage said you need to adjust the handbrake via adjuster till its wound right on then turn it back 12 clicks but still no good.
Any ideas? eletric handbrake, another pointless thing on modern cars

Now you've pulled the emergency latch cable I think you'll find the EPB unit needs some work.
Have a search, there's a good walk thro' kindly posted by a member. I'll try and find it..

But if I'm driving along and pull the button when driving like instruction on the machine the hand brake works perfect. Plus the hand brake wasn't working properly before I pulled the cable, only did that as wouldn't release. What a mess of a thing. Il follow that guide tomorrow and hopefully get somewhere. Thank you

Go back to square one. It was working okay before you started. When you loosened the brakes off, you may not have readjusted them with the shoes centrally so go back and check. If you have pulled the emergency release it may take a couple of applications for it to re-latch up

Different system and application ....if you pull the EPB lever up while driving along it applies the brakes on all 4 wheels ...not the park brake. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

You need to read Bodsys Brake Bible found in the wiki on top of home page sounds like you are not centralising the shoes by slackening the Allen stud off opposite the adjuster, do not use it until you find the fault as you may jam the mechanism up and have further problems. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
