Complete system failure with all injector timing faults.

Hello
I have a D3 which completely shuts down on or near the kick down point.
The engine drops to 2 or 3 cyliners, the suspension shuts down and drops to the floor, the abs stops working, all other ecu's shut down.
Stop the engine and start again and everything works perfectly, the suspension comes up and no faults on the dash board.
Autologic shows injector timing faults on all 6 injectors with code P020a,b,c,d,e,f.
All the other ecu's show faults consistant with loss of electrical power.
We have been through every connector and plug, checked all the wires etc. The battery is a new genuine one.
No work was caried out on the vehicle prior to the fault.

Any body have any ideas?

Did you check the battery cable to the starter has not shorted on the front diff?

If you remove the top fan cover and look down you can see where the cable is routed under the front of the engine and very close to the diff. Sometimes it has been known to chaff its outer shielding against the diff and shorts the entire electrics to earth. If it has. the easiest solution is to wrap the shielding with something like rubber hose, and using strong cable ties pull it away from the diff by anchoring it with the ties to the steering rack.
The other likely culprit is you have a weak or broken earth strap, particularly the one from the transfer case to the underbody, though not exclusively!!

So check all the earth straps very thoroughly.

As an aside note, if you fill out your profile with your model, year, etc it will make it easier for members to respond to your queries! Thumbs Up
