Discovery 3 model variants |
|
Hi, currently own (and fix) a Discovery 2 facelift model, TD5. I've had it for the past five years, and it's getting a bit tired. I'm thinking of getting a Discovery 3. I'm going to look at one locally at the weekend, 2006 model. On the boot it simply stated "Discovery 3 S"
What's the basic differences between the S, HSE, GS etc etc... not interested in small details, but anything major would be useful to know.
Thanks
Mat

Remember many SE & HSE standard features could be ordered as options on an S . I found manual adjust seats on the S to be unbearable and had to sell the vehicle after 6 months

It all depends on who was sat ticking the boxes.
I’ve got a GS, I think. Mine got De-badged before I bought it. But it’s got air suspension, satnav, decent stereo, leather etc

2006my sets alarm bells ringing with the oil pump failure syndrome, check it out and welcome It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

yes, apparently it's had the belts and oil pump done, I'll check the paperwork if I can be bothered to go and look at it. It has 100K miles on the clock, I checked on VOSA and saw it had a big list of MOT advisories in Sept 2019, with the failures being fixed, so that might bring the price down should the rest of the car be any good.
TBH I'm not too precious about cars, I need a workhorse, I bought my 53 plate disco 2 facelift 4 years ago for £2800, needed a few small bits n bobs, did it all myself for around £150 inc full service, and so far it's cost me around £500 max in parts & servicing. I drive it every single day, throw stuff in the back, take it across the fields shooting, and pull my 3.5T plant trailer full of bricks/rubble/wood etc round with it.
If the right Discovery 3 doesn't appear for the right price I'll be keeping the 2 until it falls apart.
He's asking £4500 for this 56 plate S model, but I'm thinking around £3800-£4000 is nearer the mark.
Thanks
