Parking brake, traction reduced and parking sensor faults |
|
Hi all
Am going to look at a local cheap 05 plate with the faults below.
Just wondering if this is something easy to fix or could lead to a large amount of pain and financial input.
I don’t have a code reader yet ( this would be my first venture into d3) but trying to find a vehicle that could fit in a budget hence why viewing this one.
Any thoughts appreciated.
Thanks in advanced
Baz
The reason for it being sold as spares or repairs are there is an airbag warning light and a two parking brake
warning light showing on the dashboard (parking brake not working),there is also a message saying transmission fault traction reduced, my local garage think this is coming up because of the parking brake fault. The parking sensors are not working I think one of them my have water in it and the bonnet telescopic struts do not keep th bonnet open

I would be very weary if you looking to buy something cheap as a fixer upper
Unless you have a very good idea of what the costs of repair are.
If a D3 is too cheap, its for a reason and someone wants to offload it.
Sometimes a cheap one with faults turns out a lot more expensive by the time you
sort the faults that a more expensive good running motor.
A code reading should give some pointers.
Air bag light could be something simple like a rotary coupling or something expensive like missing
airbags, gstuart bought one with an airbag fault and credit to him worked through it and found that the bags were missing form the vehicle.
Tread carefully but best of luck
When you say cheap, what money are you talking about?

Thanks guys.
Yep it’s an auto.
181k miles, not long had pads and discs ( hence wondering if parking brake not been set correctly etc)
Full leather etc.
The seller is asking £2000 with MoT till April
I have done a bit of googling prior to posting and did see that it could either cost next to nothing or loads.
It would be my first d3 to look to replace my D2 with. Everyday use once sorted would be the thought.
Thanks again

go for it worst case you will get your money back on the engine if you decide not to spend loads on it so try it see how it goes and if your handy with spanners you can fix most things and get most parts for a good price if you can be bothered to look around please excuse any grammer/punctuation mistakes,i'm thick, thankyou

Whats the MOT history like
It sounds like not a lot of preventative maintenance has been done to it

I looked back at MOT history and actually only has a couple of things over the last 8 years, nothing on the last 3. Has some service history with it so was thinking it may have been looked after prior to this owner
Thanks for the thoughts, will go and have a look and see how it fairs in real life.
