i can not help you with the sensor thing.
BUT had the same discussion with myself regarding the replacement of a broken fog light, Genuine or non genuine..
as i paid only £58.33 for a : XBJ000080 - Front Right Hand Fog Lamp For Range Rover Sport 2005-2009, Range Rover Vogue 2006-2009 and Discovery 3
@ James Morris LR Centre Ltd
it was no brainer for me TBH.... GENUINE! there are a few stories here on this forum regarding, fitment/water tighness regarding chinese versions..
and... i do not want to sponsor the chinese economy directly TBHBest regards

Hi
Many thks as that’s very helpful, would rather spend a bit more so they last along with actually working when there’s fog , , also been looking at other threads ref aftermarket ones, inc osram etc
Noticed some on the road that seem to display like a horrible orange hue , of course no fog in sight
Thks again

It’s to fit the rain sensor and auto dim mirror that ive bought
Also see it has like a black covering that inc the cut out for the rain sensor
Or will I have to visit a windscreen company as I also don’t know what’s used the fix the mirror mount to the windscreen

Looking online makes more sense , see with the auto dim mirror covers it’s designed to cover the rain sensor , so that’s why the mirror mount needs to go up on the windscreen

to install The sensors you will be forced to change the windshield, and when changing this you will be forced to change the rear-view mirror, then you have to activate them to make them work. I have installed the original LR rain and light sensor in my car, D3, which did not have it from the factory, and now it works completely, thanks to Geoff. I can tell you that the windshield has a specific design to accommodate the sensor. , a small window, and also brings a support of the receiver to accommodate the sensor, so you must change it, the basic windshield is not useful, and said glass also has a different support for the rearview mirror because it only admits that the rearview mirror is install the interior photosensitive model mirror, which will work spontaneously just by plugging it into the pre-existing connector, but the rain and light sensors that, although they also have their connectors must be activated to work as they are deactivated, in the end all of it is covered Dressed with the finished caps set higher in this conversation thread, I hope you have understood me and I have helped you. To clarify more, your windscreen model does not support the sensors that need a small window and a support to hold them that must be incorporated, so you have to change it and the correct model will not allow you to put your current interior mirror because it brings a connector different and incompatible, you are then obliged to put the correct one that is photosensitive and autodeeping. Then you will cover everything with the black covers and finally you will activate the sensors in the CCF.lost in translation!
