Reset steering angle sensor without iid, computer etc
Hi all, searched but can’t really find anything.
Does anyone know if the above is possible. When the wheels are straight, the system thinks they are on full left lock. So kicks in the abs , stops all programs, and stops active suspension, so the ride is hard.
Had a iid but sold it a couple of weeks ago, as this D3 was due to be sold, but buyer fell through.
Just disconnected the battery for 40mins, and nothing.
Any ideas.
Thanks

I don't imagine there is any 'manual' process to re-set the steering angle sensor. Perhaps ask if there is someone local with a IID or Nanocom or similar?Richard

I seem to remember seeing this somewhere and it's worth a try?
Within 30 seconds: Start engin with steering wheel straight and wheels centre then turn too full lock left followed by full lock right then back to center. Turn off ignition and sensor should be reset??? Would be interested to know if worksBelts, oil pump casing and water pump by Flack

The steering angle normally goes out of sync because the collar for the sensor rotates on the shaft.
If you have 4x4 info screen, you can centre your steering wheel then rotate the sensor collar on the steering column until it shows straight ahead on the 4x4 info.
I did this when it went out of sync while I was on a trip and didn't pack my IID...rookie error!
I took it as centre half-way between when it first shows a change in the graphic each side of centre.
I glued some foam strips between collar and column to stop the sensor drift but easily forced if the collar were somehow to seize in the sensor.Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

Work on my old Merc SL.
Think it works on a lot of VWs also.
Don't remember it working on my D3.Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto
