Fitting jaguar engine to my discovery 3 |
|
Hi all I know this has been mentioned before but I'm trying to find some 100% correct information before I shell out 1000's on an engine etc and iv read conflicting stuff.. I need a new engine for my 55 plate discovery 3 tdv6 auto,
So here goes my questions..
Does the jaguar xf engine definitely fit?
If so is it a direct fit?
What needs changing on/in it? (I'm told sump is there anything else?)
Is there a certain year of xj I need it to be from?
I hear talk about euro 3/4 differences?!
Any info would really help!

Yes I have searched and seen that thread, I'm just trying to find out if there is a certain year range of jags to go for and whether there was any newer models that had been modified over the years for emissions or whatever that would no longer be ideal for the swap.. Etc.. I read somewhere that manual and auto jag engines had different bolt locations regards gearbox And therefore one may not fit.. Although that could be nonsense..
Trying to cover all bases before the plunge, knowing my luck I'd go ahead and something trivial will throw a spanner in the works!

Possibly the main criteria is whether it is EU3 or EU4. It needs to be the same EU as yours for minimal problems but as has been said, search and all will be revealed

Yeps.... take an S engine.... if you have a EU3 LR
Every S-engine, although EU4 on jag, is a rather easy swap... since the fuel parts on a EU4 Jag s-type TDV6 they ARE the same as on a EU3 LR TDV6 (except for the injectors who are by default different in VDO part numbers as LR)
Bolt pattern on a jag not different....
Flywheel although differs between manual and auto box..
Psa cars with TDV6 have different boltpaterns.. Best regards
Harold
