As part of my maintenance plans I decided to change the brake fluid, easy I thought done that before I’ve got some ravenol dot 4.......ended up changing a calliper as the bleed nipple stripped the thread, GAP IId tool kept throwing errors so ended up doing it old school, now although the brakes are good they don’t feel ‘as good’ as before could I have gotten air in the ABS system?? Maybe I’ve broken something going old school? Anybody any ideas, do you think Kwik fit (right beside my work) could help diagnose anything?

no fault codes related to the brakes ( just FBH and audio) i was attempting to use the iid brake bleed function under the service menu, figured i should as i had it handy and it maybe needed due to the ABS, (last time i done it was an ABS free defender) it looked ok to start 'open rear right' 'pump brake pedal' then a timer went into minus figures screen froze, re booted it 'close rear right' press continue and it errors, maybe i need to bleed a few times more over the next few days? just watched the powerful lads do their D4 no mention of ABS or use of the iid

I just use the traditional wife on brake pedal method, I didn’t even know the IID tool had a bleed function. Have another go manually again and see if it improves. 012MY RRS 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography (Current)

You need a Ezibleed kit, about £20 from most accessory shops, works off tyre(spare) pressure below 20psi, you can kiss the wife goodbye It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I’ve actually go an EZ bleed kit but I rarely use it. It’s easier to blame the wife when it goes horribly wrong. As the old saying goes, ‘A bad workman always blames his tools, a good one blames his wife’. 012MY RRS 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography (Current)

Had my Ezibleed kit for years and wouldn't be without it.
I don't use the spare to 'power' it though, I have an old Disposable welding gas cylinder that I top up to 20PSI with my compressor and use that.
far easier than humping a spare wheel about.
Nasher Heaven doesn't want me, and hell is afraid I'll take over.

I've been thinking about getting one of these...

It'll avoid the ear ache I get when bleeding the brakes (wife moaning her legs are aching). Kev

^^looks good, I ordered an ezibleed earlier like the sound of the Nasher set up, wonder if I could fashion a suitable connection to my portable tyre inflator thing, what could possibly go wrong

No, you cannot use a tyre inflator, If you haven’t got a spare wheel from any car available drop the pressure on one of the cars tyres to 20psi and use that, use the tyre inflator to pump it back up when you have bled the brakes. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Surely if I set the required pressure to <20 psi it’s the same as a tyre? Or am I missing something blindingly obvious (wouldn’t be the first time)

I bought one of these to replace an ageing Eazibleed a few years ago and am really pleased with its performance.

When working at the end of the system such as replacing the callipers, I remove the bleed nipple and let the fluid to run out under gravity , until clear of air and replace the nipple. 9 times out of 10 it works as there is no turbulence to aerate the fluid.
