Yellow EPB warning/ Clock on Dash Flash gone wrong?

Evening all, hope someone can shed a light on new warning for EPB. I have done a search but all of the threads seem to be about re calibrating a manual with the reverse trick. Sadly mine is an auto and so help required.

Vehicle was driven fine and stopped at shops, when returned to yellow light was on. EPB still seems to function and sound as normal j(I dont use it being an auto and had not applied it prior to the warning light coming on), ust got the Amber warning all the time. I am away from home so can't check codes till tomorrow night.

Thanks

Just been mot'd and serviced that's the story of my life. Bet it was the tester using the park brake Censored it up, lol.

Shouldn't they be making sure it works as part of the service.

Binding on the rear, it was probably using it during the mot test that caused it to happen as we never use it. Maybe we should now and then to keep everything moving and free.

Ok now this is strange! Rear brakes done and all good but Amber light came back on. Codes read and relates to lambda sensor gone. Sensor replaced codes clear all good. Amber light comes back on lambda reading faulty again. So obviously something wrong in the lambda department but it is putting on the park Amber light not the lambda light. Anyone any ideas?

I wonder if it is as a result of flashing the clock on dash etc.

Hi Skybear, I think it's a feature of the clock in dash. I've got the latest version with the FBH light removed in mine and I've just been and checked... If I illuminate the MIL Led from the IID then the Yellow (P) light comes on instead.

Evening and I thank you for that. SWMBO is away with car but back tomorrow evening so I was going to flash back to the original software and see if that caused the correct light to come on. Obviously a lambda problem but at least I will be able to confirm why the park light comes on.

Based on your test I am sure mine will react as expected. Not sure where to post it but an interesting fact for those who have done the clock on dash upgrade to save them messing about with the brakes when it's an engine problem.

If you can't be bothered to apply the park brake it can be set to be applied automatically when the engine is switched off in the CCF Thumbs Up
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Hi M3DPO I had considered doing that and in fact may well still give it a go.

The issue here it would now appear though is if you have done the dash on clock upgrade and get an engine fault it will not illuminate the correct warning light.

I cant check anything further today as the car is away with the family. Anyone who has upgraded feel like pulling a lambda sensor out and seeing which warning light you get? Be good to get another vehicles result as well as mine and armalites

P light may be the MIL light after Clock flash.

I read this thread with great interest.

In the last month or so, the left side amber P light has been illuminating and I figured it was something to do with the Electronic Parking Brake that I am afraid of and never use.

Regardless, I tended to ignore the light as after a few days, it would go out and then after more days go by, the light amber would illuminate again. There are no nasty messages on the centre display however.

I finally did a code scan and got P0171 and P0174 which suggests a MAF sensor concern or a vacuum leak, neither which sound brake related but it is no surprise that error codes and trouble lights would not seem related.

Then I got to wondering if my P light was acting like the MIL light so at next engine start I looked for the MIL light to momentarily illuminate on the left tachometer side. All the other warning lights briefly came on as expected except there was a non-illuminated space where there should have been the MIL light.

On the Speedometer however, the P light showed amber for a short bit. As such, I think that with one of my software update flashes, (and after reading this post, it sounds like the Clock on the Dash flash), that now the P amber light is acting as the MIL or engine light.

The first jpg above shows just the amber and the second jpg below shows the amber and red illuminated when I have the Electronic Parking Brake engaged. I think there is nothing wrong with my parking brake but I might have a vacuum leak or MAF problem per the codes but more significantly, the MIL light has switched locations.
