HDC fault.

Any ideas on this one please.

Last Thursday i towed my caravan from Kent to Norfolk. Everything was fine for the first 40 miles, the out of the blue, bing, HDC fault, special programs off, suspension lowered. I stopped and plugged it into my IID, the only fault related to the interior light in the rear, which has been there for the last two years. Restarted the car, no warnings and off i went. 30 miles later same thing. Again no faults logged. Restarted and off i went. Same thing after another 15 miles. It then drove the last 40 miles without incident.

This morning i came back, drove for three hrs, 130 miles, the bing, same message etc. After a restart it was fine for the last 20 miles to home.

The battery was replaced at the end of Feb this year, which equates to 2000 miles. Its a Bosch battery.

I have plugged it in again, and this time i got this. None of which relate to today.

I had the same and needed to calibrate the steering angle sensor, perhaps the weight of the caravan pushing down on the back is effecting the front geometry?

Now thats very interesting. I had googled the fault, and had seen others mentioning steering angle, and the fault popping up when towing.

I recently had the wheel alignment done, by someone who was recommended to me by my trusted LR Indy. But i had been meaning to go back, because i wasnt happy that the steering wheel was dead straight when going straight. As Mrs has just pointed out, this was its first tow since the alignment.
