Hi all,
Am planning on undertaking the transmission filter/sump change to the redesigned two piece sump filter kit and electric transmission plug sleeve with oil flush and have rear various posts so am pretty confident but have a few questions.
I have read Filos method of attaching two extension hoses to the oil cooler but my question is what size and what did you use for these hoses?
The second question is, I am planning on removing sump drain plug and measuring the fluid, drop sump off and cut off filter as per guides and then remove the wiring sleeve and fit new. I will then fill sump up using fill plug. At this point I will cycle through gears.
I will then disconnect hoses and put one into oil drain vessel while connecting the fresh in via pressure garden sprayer filled with clean oil( 7L)
Am I correct that if I connect these up as mentioned and run the engine I can carry on running engine until dirty oil runs clean?
Once the oil runs clean do I then open fill plug and keep filling until either oil seeps out and stops at a drip?
Thanks in advance everyone!

I used 12mm I.D. clear poly hose bought from a local DIY/Hardware store and found a short piece of 10mm copper tube as a connector for the hose from the cooler to the drain container. no need to use the level/drain plug as a means of draining or filling at all.
Using Filos method, firstly run the engine until all the old fluid is pumped into the container Stop the engine, measure the contents you have in the container.
Connect your pressure container, filled with clean fluid and pump fluid into the stub pipe that you removed the hose from at the cooler. Put about 3 litres into the gearbox. Start the engine as before and drain the fluid into the container, repeat the fill operation until the fluid runs clear and stops flowing. stop the engine.
Then get underneath and replace the filter, pan & sleeve.
Using the pressure container, still connected to the cooler, pump in around 5-6 litres of clean fluid. Refit the hose to the cooler and start the engine, move through all the gears a couple of times and switch off.
Remove the fill/level plug and check for oil level. If needs be, top up .
Run the engine until the gearbox fluid is warm and then check the level again.
I put 2 tubes of Dr Tranny in mine when I refilled after the flush and used Mannol fluid. Relocated to Mid France from N. Wales March 2021

if I am recalling correctly the auto box has around 11 liters of fluid. If you are following Filo's guide you'll only get around 4 - 5 liters out.
Refill the same amount of fluid and you have a fifty : fifty mixture of old versus new fluid. Drive around the corner and do another change. Your fluid then should be OK.
Dr. Tranny is only good if you have any issue, i.e. negativ vibration when accelerating at around 25 / 30 MPH. It is a temporary fix to the judder.
Final step is following the process as described before. Warming up the fluid, going thru the gears and check fluid level Achim

I recently changed my auto box fluid using the pump out/in method from the oil cooler hoses. It was really easy.
I first pumped out 3.7L of old fluid (red) into a catch tank, pumped back in 3.7L and then waited 15 mins. I then started the car again and pumped out another 3.7L of old fluid, pumped back in another 3.7L of new Manol AG55, and repeated once more ... finally only new fluid started to pump out so I think this method pretty much changes all the fluid.
just for good measure, a week later I did the same again, this time it only pumped out new clean fluid, so I just topped back up the first 3.7L and then left it. 2005 TDV6 SE Auto

The OP wants to change the filter and connector plug sleeve which is why he is asking.
Also FILO method does not get all the oil out. (but relies on many flushes to attempt)
So it is good to both pump and drain sump for the best of both worlds.
7 litres will be plenty
6 litres maybe enough

That gets you the perfect level. Engine needs to be running while you do this.

Hi everyone thanks so much for the help and guidance!
Pretty sure I have a good idea how to do it. Just got to find some 10mm copper or equivalent - off to the plumbing shop!
Few small questions, does anyone know the size of the drain and filler plugs for hex key?
Also I have 8L of fluid coming so reading this should be enough.
Am I also right in in thinking the oil is same in the diffs and that is simply a case of removing drain plug and refilling using filler plug?
Thanks

The oil in the diff's is 75W90 fully synthetic, not transmission fluid.
Always remove the fill plug first just in case you can't get it out....but yes just drain and refill with the correct amount.

When I did my autobox using the pump out method, the old fluid was dark red, so I could see what was coming out. I pumped out around 9 liters in three stages, after that it was clear.
A week later it was still clear when I pumped some out, so I guess it must change 99% of the fluid doing it like this ?
