CJB removed and replaced! Now only issues! |
|
Hi guys,
Hope you are well?
So yesterday I decided to repair the sunroof drains on my Disco 3 V6S. With all the rain lately, the footwell and carpets were soaked.
After a ton of research I tackled the driver side, and both rear drains. All went well and then I went onto the passenger side footwell.
Battery disconnected, I removed the glovebox and then removed the CJB/fuse box.
All went well, fixed the drain, replaced the CJB, reconnected the battery and all hell broke loose. Errors on the gearbox, parking brake and suspension.
Did a quick search on the net, and then checked all the plugs and connectors to the CJB, probably four times over.
I did a hard reset, by placing the two battery terminals together for 10min.
But nothing. I replaced everything as it came off, checked that the plugs were in the correct positions and that the plugs are properly inserted.
Is there anyone who had the same problems? And could possibly give me some advice?
I have tried some of the solutions I found on this forum and the US forum, but no luck!
Thanks! Have a good one!

Might I suggest a code reader next and then clear all the faults (module by module).
I appreciate you have done a full hard reset but in the world of BMWs at least, a battery disconnect does not clear the modules' memory. The steering airbag warning light in my BMW E36 can only be reset by a code reader for instance.
Just a thought. Good luck "Track day running - Don't put your foot back on the accelerator until your absolutely sure you don't have to take it off again"

If the CJB was working okay prior to removal then it will more than likely be a bad connection on the CJB. The rear connectors are a PIA to get back properly so I would take it out and check that no pins are bent or corroded

If you can see red with a mirror on the rear connectors , they aren’t fully inserted

Thanks Kilovolt, I will look into it, spoke to my local indy yesterday, and that is also what he suggested. Only problem is to get the vehicle to him?
But I will probably end up doing it if I have tried everything else.

Hi Globetrotter,
Strange thing is, I did double check on the connectors also removed the CJB again and re-installed it. Checked the connectors for bent pins and they were also nice and clean.
But thank you, it cannot hurt to double check it again. I will check them again to be safe.
Thanks!

Thanks Pete K,
I will have a look, does it mean that the battery needs to be connected and the ignition switched on when I do the mirror check?
Thanks! Have a good one!

No battery does not need to be connected.
It's red paint / marks

Will keep you posted.

There is red marking on the rear connectors.
When the connector is fully pushed in the red mark should disappear inside

Thank you very much guys,
As soon as I have a gap, and weather permitting, I will have a look at it.
Will let you know what I find.
