help with rear diff removal |
|
Morning folks, i hoped someone would be able to helo me as i can't seem to find much out there on the net about removoing the rear diff.
my diff is making a noise and i am taking it off to send it over to winchester gears to be rebuilt. My aim is to do it on this coming sunday evening so that it will be out, done and back on within a week.
can anyone confirm that it is as easy as the below steps?
jack up back of disco
Undo bottom link and ARB drop links both sides and remove 32mm drive shaft nut
remove drive shafts whilst pull hubs out
undo diff bolts and prop bolts
(i have a single exhaust pipe one side custom made so i am hoping it will slide around that)
undo wiring for diff lock actuator and diff breather
remove diff
does anyone know how long it takes?
I would hope to have done it within 3 or 4 hours at home on the drive

Not really help with removal as I fitted a 2011 D4 diff to my 2007 D3 auto and paid someone to fit it.
It was cheaper for me to buy a used diff from a breakers than have my original diff reconditioned.

yep i did wonder about doing that but like everything with landrovers, unless you renew you are sometimes trying polish turds so i decided to go recon - only £410 for the diff and £80 collection and delivery charge which i didn't think was to bad for a diff with a 12 month warantee.

Can't remember exactly but the diff was low miles and I think I was £60-£70 for the diff and £250 for fitting plus oil.
