EGR for the xxx time...

I own a Disco 3 2006 model on which I'd like to plug the EGR circuit.
Tried to read through the earlier posts on the topic, but lost patience as there are so many!
As I understand it, most blank the EGR by removing the pipes and replacing them with blanking plates. My take would be to simply plug the pipes by inserting a suitable slug of aluminium or whatever. Is there any technical reason that wouldn't work? I've done it before on a Freelander Td4 2004 with no ill effects.

Thanks
SR

Yes just fit a metal spacer blank to EGR

If you have problems you may need to remove throttle butterfly

Thanks Pete, just what I wanted to hear. Removing the butterfly while I'm at it must be a good idea.

Remove the butterfly, but not the butterfly spindle. The actuator still needs to work so that the ECU thinks everything is ok.

Hi Harold, yes you're right, but what if no one posted new questions? It would leave forums like this dead and a mere Wikipedia of Land Rovers. Where's the fun in that? Smile
My query has given me the response I hoped for, I'm happy. Thumbs Up

Pete, John, I'll leave the spindle in.

Cheers

@ stein,

First i was referring to your own text..

Second it is for me the opposite.... i think forums CAN become boring if you see only the same questions over and over again.... which is a tendency..... these days.. forums are used more and more like facebook and other quick media... tendency: i need to be helped just now and quick, no introduction, i want to do no effort in searching and further reading myself, just give me “the” answer and i am out... makes it boring, at least for me...

Do not take it personal please..
But yeah... that is only me Wink
 Best regards
Harold

Harold, I don't intend to morph this into a discussion about Forum etiquette.
I asked about blanking the EGR, feel free to enlighten me on the subject, but please don't assume that I haven't done any research.

Cheers
