There is nothing in the service schedule (sp?) that says a 4 wheel alignment should be done at any service. After all, its nearly a 2 hour job...
Have to agree with Mikey, my Dads LR3 just went in for its 2nd service at Stratsones in Perth, was told that he need new tyres as the front was down to 3mm and the rear 4mm and they advised an alignment check which they quoted £169.20 inc Vat and stated it wasn't covered by the warranty.
We checked the tread depth at home wasn't that suprised to find the depth were actually 5mm on the front and 6mm on the rear which isnt too bad I suppose after 20k, also quoted about £183.30 inc Vat per tyre for pirelli Scorpions. 1998 Isuzu Trooper 3.1DTi SWB Commercial *Fir Green (Mica)*
It's my parents not me who have a D3 TDV6 S

Check the depths on the inner edges of the tyres...

Yes we the depths I stated were in the centre of the tread we also checked each side of the tyres, there was an extra 1mm on each side of the tyres.
Now as part of the service they are supposed to check the tyre pressures, when we checked the pressures after the service they were set at 24 on the fronts and 30 on the rears, somehow I dont think they checked the pressures and if not what else are you paying for that they dont do. 1998 Isuzu Trooper 3.1DTi SWB Commercial *Fir Green (Mica)*

Im having a nightmare.
1 year ago dealer changed front bushes, but did NOT do a geometry check (I didnt know they were supposed to do at the time, but then again I shouldnt need to).
Since then the car has been back several times for minor niggles, including a WINTER CHECKUP. No uneven wear was spotted, but then again they didnt even to spot the washer fluid was empty as part of the winter check so doesnt supprise me.
a few weeks ago, car goes into service with 23k on the clock only to be told 3 tyres are worn unevenly and needed replacing along with load of other warranty bits and bobs. I gave the go ahead to change on the basis they take this up with Landrover as I had heard of this problem before, gave them TSB etc.
LR asked them to carry out geometry check which they did and sent the info to LR.
Unfortunately the dealer without my or LR knowledge skipped the tyres so a full warranty claim could not be made.
LR customer service went mad and agreed with me the dealer should not have skipped tyres when an open warranty claim was in place.
So the problem now is LR cannot process the warranty and blame the dealer due to lack of info required to work out how much money to give me back on the tyres.
Dealer claims they were not asked to keep the tyres by me or LR so deadlock.
Having to now write a stinky letter to head of service and MD of dealership.
Dealer from the start claimed they had never seen this problem before and the TSB has been removed from computer system and got sh*tty with me on the phone when I rightfully said "not my problem you skipped the tyres when an open warranty call with LR is in place".
friggin dealers!!
Having sent a snotty letter to Head of Service, I was pleased to hear the old tyres have materialised (over 3 weeks later) and readings sent off to LR in order to process the warranty claim.
So may see a ray of sunshine after all.
