Some users on this forum have had wheel balancing problems and quality issues with the steel rims from Dynamic. Aluminium rims were the preferred choice.

Australia 2007 Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE Auto Rimini Red

I have the dynamic steel rims running STT's as my off road tyres. Done about 3.5k in them (including an off road(ish) trip around tassy) and am very happy. I have just ordered another one for the rear wheel carrier (2nd spare).

at about $120 each, IMO they are pretty good value (compared to LR genuine).

regards,

Hi Kev,

distributors are listed at this link

http://www.simex4x4.com/html/s02_article/a...amp;dsb=55

I have a set on oreder and am planning to put my Cooper ST's onto them. Same size and offset as the 17"alloys so no issues expected.

I was at Cooma as well, don't think we met.

Hi Kev,

I have a set of Dynamic steel wheels (17 inches) with Goodyear MTR's.

Unlike Haggis, I did not have any runout problems with either the wheels or the tyres.

Had a good long drive over the Easter weekend and the wheel/tyre combination felt as smooth on the tarmac as the OEM wheels/tyres at highway speeds - honest! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Tyre noise is naturally louder with the MTR's but not unacceptably so - you don't even notice it after a while. No need to raise your voice having a conversation in the D3.

I can understand why some owners decide to leave these tyres on permanently - the extra noise on the D3 is still much quieter overall than my Td5 running on BFG All Terrains.

Off road, the tyres are awesome. I had to tow a Prado up a slippery muddy slope. The Prado had new Cooper AT's on and it just slid down this slope and could not get back up. I just reversed down, and pulled it up. I could hear the ETC working overtime but the D3 just slowly inched its way up the slope with the Prado swinging and sliding behind. I was so proud of the D3 when we got back up the slope Very Happy Very Happy Bow down Bow down Very Happy Very Happy

In terms of pricing, you really can't beat the Dynamic rims - only approx $150 each. You can get them at Graeme Cooper's. Compare this with about $1,700 per original LR wheel. Shocked Shocked Shocked

Be aware that the OEM wheel nuts will not fit the steel rims. Graeme Coopers got me a set of D2 nuts for steel wheels and they worked very well (a set of 20 nuts is just over $120 or so).

All up, I am very happy with the wheels and tyres.

Cheers

Australia 2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 S Manual Chawton White

Currently running the Dynamic steel wheels with STTs.

Have completed around 18,000 kms on this combination and have had no problems (in both dirt and tar driving). Have not actually put the LR alloys with the HTs back on since getting them in fact Smile

Got caught out though when getting the wheels fitted, as did not think of checking if wheel nuts came with them. They didn't and I had to run the allow wheel nuts with tape around the built-in washer for quite a while Surprised
