Good news: It's not that major.
Bad news: There are THREE possible blanking plate sizes
Good news: the one we are doing for Euro III will fit EURO IV
Baddish news: 10for cash thinks we might be better blanking the EGR connection at the exhaust manifold end to prevent any gases getting to the sensor and degrading it over time. THIS would need bigger plates and different ones for Euro III and IV (see the avatar picture that's where the concept of "difference" arose).
Goodish news: Everyone so far has done the inlet manifold end and reported no problems
Good news: I'm going to go for about 80 (maybe more) - (= 40 pairs) of the ones we have been talking about and they will fit both Euro III and IV
unless I get 10 or more PMs cancelling their interest.
(Any leftovers will surely sell through Martin's shop over time...
I am carrying on with the upper end plate. No detractors so far.
Have a look at this...

I blanked the EGR to inlet manifold pipe join, this doesn't require removal of the EGR valve itself but does still allow exhaust into some contact with the valve as it is exposed on that side.
I assume to blank the exhaust side of the valve would require removal of the pipe and valve itself.
Jim pics indicate that he did that as well AFAIK Cheers

Hi, Al!
I will PM them but in the interim, if you print off my document
http://www.disco3.co.uk/gallery/albums/use...%20pic.doc
and look at Jim's pictures (5th and 6th in his second post) at
http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic19800.html
there is only the plate we are making that matches the proportions of Jim's picture. simonsi's "yippee" post on the next page confirms he followed Jim to the letter - otherwise there would have been a long involved post on accessing the other end.
Does that make sense, or am I convincing myself? I'm itching to hit the GO button but I haven't, yet...

Simon - you wouldn't have measurements as confirmation for ours, would you?

OK, so the gaskets you got look like they are for the other side of the EGR valve then?
I'm still in for a set.

Blanking on the exhaust side of the EGR instead of the inlet manifold side has the benefit of preventing carbon build up around the valve, which eventually would cause the EGR position fault as the valve movement becomes restricted. It would be nice to be able to put the blank on the exhaust side (mine are on the inlet side, and no problems) but it looks like it would be quite a job to get to the EGR/exhaust gasket area. If anyone can explain how to remove the egr valve from that would be useful to know. D3 TDV6 S 2005 - TorqTune, Privacy Glass, Remote FBH, 19" HSE Alloys, Boot liner, retrofit F&R PDC, RAI
