| Mals TV/Phone/Camera project |
|
After getting lots of advice of Wiggs I have started my project to turn the sat nav screen in to a Freeview/reversing camera/mobile phone display.
Today I got the bits from CPC in Preston, a massive range of everything electrical. I have managed to connect the three new inputs to the screen and started running the wires through to the back for camera and freeview. Ran out of time due to tea and then night shift.
Overall pleased so far, the colours are a bit washed out due to it being composite. Haven't got the sound sorted yet, will keep you posted. More pics here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jmjr/sets/72157604107671401/
Here are some pics.

You've done this sort of thing before haven't you.....
Looks neat. Are you usingthe diag codes to access the other inputs or did you get one of those other gizmo's that have been talked about? _________________ TDV6 HSE Black, Black Wheels /MTR's, Black RRS front/rear LR badge (tbf) Black Leather, Black Glass, Black TowB, Shiny Tasmods, Dull Mantec, White Reflective D3 Sticker, Black steering wheel badge, black air intake.

I am using the diag mode.
I will look in to see if there is any way to access it easier. _________________ Also a member of avforums.com

Quick update.
I have mounted the camera in the rear bumper, I have cut the hole for it in the removable towing cover but need to get it wired to the display to check if it is at the right angle. Pics to follow. _________________ Also a member of avforums.com

Pic of camera in place, held in by 2 stainless screws, I may also put a spacer plate behind as the camera sticks out a bit, I will wait to see if the angle needs altering first when I get around to wiring it in.
Camera is Pioneer ND-BC2, it cost around £110 from ebay USA. It has a wider angle than the older ND-BC1 (135 degrees BC2, 112 degrees BC1).

I haven't got the camera or DVB tuner wired up yet, so it could all go Pete Tong. _________________ Also a member of avforums.com

well done mate.
I would be doing the same but it is the hurdle of having to use the diagnostic menu each time for access. If you can beat this then you are the man....
