FBH - when does it kick in ?
I know this is done to death. Searching brings up zillions of returns.
I think the FBH kicks in at below 6 degrees outside temp, and below 75 degrees water temp. Am and correct ?

Ta,
Thats not good news then.
Noticed my FBH was winding down after I switched off this afternoon. Outside temp 8 degrees and the engine was well warm after a 30 min run................Somewhere in-between my old D3 and what's to come next .........

you sure it was the FBH - the FBH makes a decreasing gurgling noise, not a whiny wind down noise, after you switch off - might have been the compressorSteve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Could still have been going if the engine temp was not high enough. It will startup at 5 degrees from cold to assist the engine warm up, but if you have not have enough of a run to warm up the engine, it will still be running or start up during the journey.

Fuel consumption is quoted as:-
full load (5.2kW) 0.61 litres / hour
part load (2.5kW) 0.30 litres / hour
also bear in mind that the FFBH will run if the coolant temperature drops below 70 degrees C whilst the vehicle is in use...
Full load to part load 72 degrees C
Part load to control idle 78 degrees C
Control idle to part load 70 degrees C
Part load to full load 65 degrees C
