I just watched the movie on channel 4 "Sahara" I thought it looked sort of familiar in some of the shots, the wife thought I was mad, she reckons all deserts look the same. But the credits at the end confirm "Filmed in Morocco"
A quick google finds that the movie was shot in and around the small village of Erfoud, close to the Algerian border
