And 'consideration'.
IMO both parties have to be considerate and take into consideration the circumstances and realities of the other. It applies to a lot of situations.

Never any need for rudeness .There does sometimes come a time when you need to be assertive, but many seem to confuse assertive with abusive and agresive.

I completely agree with Sidney. There is never any excuse for being rude or impolite. If you lose your temper you lose the argument.
