Any pointers for Top Coolant hose replacement?

I have read the threads on replacing the top coolant hose due to the rubbing of the top engine cover.

Mine is chaffed, and I've cut back the engine cover but now have the genuine part to replace the hose. (LR 095544)

My questions are (and I've not seen anyone make mention of it) as follows:

1. How do you get access to the bottom of the hose, where the spring clamp is, as it seems obstructed by the fan, cowl and the part circled in red on my photo below. Did you remove that part? If so, any pointers?

2. The special clip on the top part of the hose (circled in green on my photo below)- is that opened up with a special tool or just some large adjustable grips so it can be slid on ? I've seen some for sale where the clip is 'open' and there's some sort of plastic thing on it, presumably for locking it up. Mine didn't come with that piece and is already closed?

Thanks

Adam

Hi Adam.

Just watched my Indie LR guy do this very job, for the very same reason.

Yes, he did remove the fan cowl and the black airbox thingy. He had a large pair of pliers to open up the silver steel sprung clip, to slide the hose on.

It took him about 15 minutes, but I know that I couldn't have done it in half a day, given my age and mechanical incompetence...... Wink

Hey, thanks for replying so soon (You know what it's like, you post a question and want to know ASAP so you can crack on with a job!)

I found an Aussie guy on YouTube who mentions how to remove that airbox, sounds simple enough, 1 x 8mm nut on the lower left, and then the top clip, and the connections into it.

I've got long arms and slim hands so I reckon I can then get at it.

If anyone else has pointers please say so!

Hi

Ref the pliers I got a set of hose clamp pliers a while back which certainally makes life easier as they lock after you’ve opened the clip so u don’t have to keep pressure on it all the time, then just have a lever to release it

Think they call it an inlet duct , also if u don’t mind me adding when u reinstall it plse ensure it’s fully seated home before reinstalling the large clip

Hope it helps
