In the right hands they are nigh on un-stoppable... road tyres included.
In non-expert hands they are damn impressive.
I will offer no advice or warnings based around the above statements here though in case its taken as criticism against Tong

CY, Photos are great, however, just my luck all the shots are of the one moment i let my missus drive the car!!! and she gets in the shots (well apart from when i bullied her into suicide hill). Also, i would have hoped some one might have photo shopped off my gypo masking tape holding in my wing mirror glass from a knock the day before. Finally famous on the web, looking like a skank.
As for having a forum for the kids, looking back over the past few pages of this post i had begun to think it had.

pcgreen, Sorry to hear you have some damage - where did you venture to get them. Anyway have you got chipsaway to look at your scratches?
I took my D3 through Kielder forest last year and aquired a few deep scratches down both sides.
The local body shop said I needed a total respray as the scratches were deep. Anyway called Chipsaway out and got a quote - something like £60. They did a grand job and polished the scratches out. You would never tell they were there,
They are worth a call, even if you get a "sorry we cannot help"

Good call on chips away, I may land up using them as well. My scratches were from some innocuous little side slip, and SWMBO hasn't really commented so I may leave them as we're sure to have some more outings! Also those shopping centre car parks are murder Thanks TFC
Brilliant day out, looking forward to my next weekend pass. 2005 TDV6 HSE, Dual battery (TFC) with 1000w inverter,
Fitted finally, rear ladder and mantec plate - wow too easy

I got around to cleaning the car and putting the door trim back on today following Sundays adventures.
During the course of doing so I raised and lowered the suspension a couple of times for easier access to the roof and underside of the car. It went up and down without any problems at all.
Upon finishing I decided to raise the suspension one last time from access height to normal. The rear went up no problem but the front didn’t. The console displayed a “Suspension raising slowly” message.
When I looked at the car, it appeared to me that the front was at access height and the rear at off-road height. The light next to the height lever was showing that the car was at normal height.
I tried a couple more attempts of raising and lowering and every time I got the same error and again the front remained static but the rear went up no problem.
I decided at this point that given it was ok during washing I must have got water on the sensors so decided to go on a short drive to blow it away, which appears to have fixed the problem with front and back now going up and down together.
However my problem is now that when I select normal height, I think the back is actually at off road height and the front at normal. Selecting access height both look to be correct and when I select off road I believe the front is correct but the back may well be in Extended mode.
Does anybody know what the distance between the wheel arch and the road should be on all settings. That way I have something to compare with.
Cheers,
Ian

Hi Ian
Don't know if there are any 'official' figures for this. But on mine... In extended mode, height from floor to wheel arch was 35", normal height was 33" and access height was 31"
Hope that is of some help!! Disco 3 TDV6 HSE

Cheers, Jan,
The road to wheel arch height are the same as yours for the rear wheels but the front wheels are always an inch lower.
Maybe everything is ok and I'm just looking for problems

Who was it who drove the D3 up "the hill" prior to Alfie's attempt(s)? Don't think it's been appreciated how little fuss was made over its ascent...
It was me.... silver D3 with road tyres - hence all the spinning at the top. Great photo of it though in CY's album. Sorry been so long posting anything about last Sunday but domestics and work took priority. Should be loading video to YouTube later todaz
As for all the comments about the day, I think it was great, well organised and challenging especially for those who don't mind the risk of a little damage. I went to Yarwell earlier this year and, whilst good, it was no better than Tong. Well done Andy. TDV6 SE Disco3, Silver

Great news
Chips away have quoted £125 to remove the scratches. however, he seemed to want to do him self out of business as he said only do them if they annoy you. Otherwise, he suggested waiting until a few more were present from day to day use and he will do them all at the same time for same price. I think he was suggesting with tax and fuel that i will be selling by end of summer so may as well do them then.
I have managed to source a "L" from a scrap yard. however £20 was, i feel steep. Side step still missing but have manged to source another one, slightly damaged from a scrappy for just £30. Alls well that ends well. Thanks for the help people.
