Hi Folks,
Just wondered if anyone would be interested in joining/forming an informal social group for Discovery 3 (and perhaps RR Sport) owners based in SE Melbourne/Mornington Peninsula ?
The objective would be to have periodic gatherings/meetings to share experiences and information at a more convivial level than just via a PC, maybe arrange joint trips, group buys etc.
Perhaps it might be viewed as extending on the initiative of those recently organising various trips such as to Tassie and the Flinders Ranges - without wishing to appear to be trying to hijack their idea??
This is not intended as a substitute for a 4WD club - there are plenty already - but rather to provide for a special interest group focussed on the Disco 3.
If sufficient interest, not sure of the best way to test it - add a poll to this perhaps...?
Any thoughts....??
BTW if this is an old idea with existing threads that I have missed, please let me know...

Hi all - good to have such interest, even if from inter-state (Rob and Norto) - still leaves possibility of catching up if you're visiting...
Red - are you local or just expressing support?
Getafix - so long as you're not from the "Dark Side" all would be welcome - chance to get out of the Smoke and into fresh air....
Norto - would love to meet at Wilpena Pound but have only just returned from a trip to England - nominally family and a wedding but managed to squeeze in two days doing the Level 1 and 2 courses with Landrover at Eastnor (near Ledbury in Herefordshire) followed on day 3 by a visit to the factory (Solihull) with a morning driving on their test track, first in a Disco 3 then in a RR TDV8, followed by a factory tour including the Disco assembly line - seems unnecessary to say that I had a ball....and was delighted to see just how much can be done in a Disco 3 - without risk to my own!
Consequently, aside from any other considerations, my customers are now waiting on me doing all the work that I had to put off (plus some - to pay for my hedonistic pursuits!) and as mine is still very new, I have a lot of preparation to complete - including fitting the Mantec plate I brought back in my luggage...did think of bringing a set of 17" wheels too but thought Qantas might notice...
Anyway, next time perhaps...?

I drop down to Melbourne regularly for work, lived there for 10 years.
If I see a social coming up I'd twist my calendar a bit to meet a few more poeple.
All the best

Hi Andy,
Great idea. I'm in Caulfield and happy to get together for any type of social event, especially family events so I can bring along SWMBO and kids... Do you have any ideas ??

Hi Ianv,
Good to hear from you - hope we can arrange something to coincide with one of your visits down this way.
Hi Mobyone,
Was rather waiting to see what sort of response was forthcoming - and from where...
From a purely selfish point of view I can think of a winery not far from here, on the Mooroduc Road, that would be easy to find (keep straight on off the end of the Mornington Peninsula freeway). It has plenty of parking and a cafe style restaurant that is I believe kid friendly and not too expensive.
You any better ideas...?
We seem to have around 4 (excluding interstate) so far and hopefully there are others who are yet to comment...? Looks promising so far though.

Local. And giving support. I'm in.
You aren't thinking of Dr Richard McIntyre's "little" set up in Moorooduc are you? _________________ We'd like to know a little bit about You for our files,
