No change in fuel or driving style.
Wonder if it's the warmer UK weather over the last few days?
But' it's generally cooler air [if any] that improves mpg.

btw Just paid £102.82 for a tank of 85.7 ltr!

Could be the diesel fuel formula changed from winter to summer fuel (less light ends which prevent waxing/coagulation, and higher carbon content).

Nick must have seen a surge in demand for air filters

I ordered a couple of air filters from Nick today as well

He did mention that he had a bit of a run on them. He is a great chap though taking all these orders and giving a good discount to the forum, it must be a pain in the backside packing up all those parcels at the same time as dealing with the normal customers.

Laughing

I am going to try and get a filter from the stealer we got it from FOC, but I just ordered a spare from Nick anyway and he did say there had been a run lately.

Forget fuel panic buying, disco3 is on air-filter panic buying Laughing

Call me a geek (or not) but it was plotting fuel use that showed me that mpg was seriously suffering after 23k, then when the filter was changed at 30k it went back to normal. These are actual fuel in the tank vs odometer readings.

Also noticed car a pit peppier after changing air filter, TTed but now back to TT permagrin level. Mr. Green Mr. Green

alright then: you're a geek

but a good indicator nevertheless

did you log the price you paid for the fuel each time too? then you'd be really upset.... Whistle

well, tried another brim to brim check, done 400miles exactly, put in 58.7Ltrs = 12.914 gal = 30.97MPG. This time trip comp showing 32mpg, so still close.

Thanks Nick fitted one and my fuel consumption has without doubt increased and by quite a large amount. Got over 31mpg on the way back from Oxford. Even on the way to work I got over 28mpg as opposed to 24mpg I have had recently.

I have struggled to get 30mpg on a run recently and got it easily without even trying to drive economically.

I wonder how much LR's moronic 45k air filter change is costing us, to save £15 a year on the service cost. Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

Who knows but the old one was on 33K miles and was as black as anything, you could see it was blocked. I bought two from Nick so that I can change them every 15K miles as I think if you go down dusty farm tracks like I do on the way to work it gets blocked much sooner than 45K.

I would suggest everybody checks theirs. Nick does a great deal on them as well.

I'm not sure that it's PC any more, but in the "old" days, we used to periodically bash the ls out of an air filter, in order to dislodge particulates & "freshen" the filter. Has anyone tried this?

Best Wishes,
Peter

Bash, vacuum, compressed air, it all helps I suppose

Problem with mine is the blackness seems quite sticky gloopy oily (no real oil, but not dry) so I am going to dump a new filter in..

Just drove the 10min to Twisted Peformance.
Got myself a K&N Air Filter - just under £70 inc Vat.
Fitting later and on a trip down south next week.
So I'll see how things fair.
