Just ordered a case of atf from the dealer, and after taking a look under the transmission I'm not positive as to where the drain and fill plugs are. I think there are separate plugs for the transfer case, and I've seen these. But anyways does anyone know exactly how to do a change on this truck? (pics would be helpful)

Ive done my reasearch, and ive come to the conclusion that "life" means about 100k miles, but a tranny flush then could potentially do more bad then good. My best guess is that these car manufactorers would rather get paid to replace the trannys after failure then to consistently service them, but i plan on having my D3 for a looooong time, and ive herd of people who have had their transmissions run over 200k without a problem, flushing the systems every 30 to 50k. So, with that being said i guess if you dont plan on keeping your car for a long time its not worth the time or the effort.

I read somewhere an article in a 4wd mag on auto trans. in particular the ZF fitted to D3 and lots of other cars,
The article was by a trans. specilist who said the ZF was one of the toughest autos about, but the "Filled for life" means filled for the life of the warrenty and recomended the oil be changed at ???? forgot if you wonted it to last the distance. I plan to have mine changed in a wile. At the moment with 60,000 km soon would be reasonable.

Hi All,
When buying mine I asked the dealer what "life" meant, he said 200k was a reasonable definition, I said "so a change at 100K would be good" he said good idea, rememeber the sealed for life locking rear diff as well. It has a special castrol carbontech oil that you will need to order probably.

On an old Vauxhall Cavalier Auto I had, when i changed the Transmission fluid, I also changed a large filter that was in the ATF sump. Does the D3 have a seperate filter for the ATF? or perhaps a magentic area where the particles collect?
