Had some machinery entered in a local farm sale today, went along to see it sold, wasnt banking on returning with another landrover but it was love at first sight and 'Cerys' as she is now known was coming home with me!
She's a series 3 diesel 88" 7 seater! Has been owned by the farmer for years, but just tootled around the farm for the last few years, last MOT'd and taxed in 1996.
She's done 66000 mile from new, I have a feeling she may have been either a waterboard or police vehicle origionally as she has been painted white (blue visible underneath), and has a couple of holes in the middle of the roof where a beacon of some sort had been fitted. She runs fine, we even drove her the 2 miles home!
Am hoping to have a good look at her over the next few days to decide if she will MOT or if she will just be used as a farm runabout. I hope shes good, Im itching to restore her to her former glory.

The thing about Series vehicles, as Sidney undoubtedly knows, its not what you see that defines its condition.
However they are really just a big boys meccanno set on wheels, there is nothing the home mechanic cannot mend, replace or overhaul with no more than a set of spanners, a screwdriver and a big hammer,
...................and an angle grinder, a welder, a crane, a 50 ton press, 50 gallons of waxoil, and definitly an endless supply of patience Silver TDV6 HSE

Thanks chaps.I really hope she is worth doing, not a problem if not, shes only cost me a few hundred, and will get plenty of use on the farm anyway but would be really nice as a project. Im hopefully going to get her jacked up this afternoon and have a good squizz underneath. Im not looking forward to this, nearly 35years of plugging through have no dooubt taken its toll! I will take dome photos so you can all have a good laugh at my expense when I find out how rotten she is! Powered by :

Can be worse than mine! Point out any bit of chassis and I can stab a screwdriver through it no problem! Happiness is a vectored thrust! (As seen on a Harrier GR3)
