| Help needed getting Thule BackUp Box/Rack over to me...DONE! |
|
Now I know this may be a long shot, but I'm gonna try...
Is anyone going to be coming to / through / near Luxembourg in the next couple of months and would be able to attach and bring over a Thule BackUp Box and tow-bar mounted rack...?
Basically I can get a box and rack for less money in the UK than the BackUp box costs on it's own here in Luxembourg, Germany etc. But none of the suppliers I have spoken to will send outside of the UK (roofbox.co etc).
I don't need it until end of July, so can wait.
I can arrange to collect from a convenient location (within reason) - it doesn't need to be delivered to my door with a red ribbon attached...
Here's hoping...Thanks.

Alicatt - that could work. Hechtel is about two and a half hours drive from me.
The one obstacle then is how to get the stuff to you in Ashford. Possible to have roofbox.co deliver direct to an address there ?

PM'd you.
Will have to be going to Glasgow instead of Ashford, events have kind of overtaken me.

@NJF - Big. It's the Backup Box that sits on a Thule, towbar mounted bike rack. Alicatt has offered up some help. But this is via Glasgow. We need to speak and work on the details/feasibility. Do you have an option as well (just in case it becomes a logisitcal nightmare for Alicatt)?
And @Alicatt - I've got your PM. I will call you Thursday.
Thanks all. The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

OK, I've just looked at it on the Web. You must have a SWMBO you can fill a car up even better than mine.
Question: will it fit inside a D3 with the back seat down and allow a driver who'se taller than the midget dwarf on Lord of the Rings to drive the car?

Yes...
Dimensions are - 146 length; 57 wide; 70 high (cm's)
That means width wise it is a couple of centeimters wider than half the boot width, no problems with the height and gives about 50cm space in length even with the front seats pushed back. It only needs two of the 3 rear seats to be folded. And still gives space for the towbar rack (which, I suppose can fit inside the box).
And as for my SWMBO - I learnt the bigger the car, the more she packs...since downsizing from a Grande Espace I was hoping she would downsize the bags as well...and...er...no she hasn't... The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

Then you have a courier if you can get it to here: http://www.alexanderhotels.co.uk/alexander/ sometime between Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 June 2008. I hope the towbar bit fits inside the box. Let me know if you're on and I'll PM the RV details.

It's still got to get from the Roofbox Co - so I don't think they will deliver to a hotel...or the hotel would be willing to accept. What do you reckon on the hotel accepting ?
I'll contact the Roofbox Co and see if they have an issue.
(god...this is like London buses. Nothing, then 3 come along at once... )
I have different possibilities from NJF, Blue Meanie and Alicatt. I'm sure one of them is going to work. Thanks. The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...
