Lots!!! Don't know figures but since having my TDV6 remapped it a much better car to drive, esp for overtaking.
Def worth doing, even Mrs DSL agrees and she was very doubtful.

I agree - you don't need to see any before or after figures - just drive it and feel the differance

Since it seems to make such a difference is there any reason why LR don't offer it as standard?

Most of the "quality" re-maps offer an improvement of 50bhp & 50lb/ft of torque.
The reason why LR don't have it as standard is because the TDV6 has big tolerance margins. This is to allow for the use of poor quality diesel, service schedules not being adhered to etc. A sensible re-map will reduce these margins.
If you use good quality fuel & stick to the maintenance schedule, you shouldn't have any issues.
I've had re-mapped cars for the last 15 years, never had any related problems.
Mostly I drive the D3 fairly gently, but as I use it for business I want to be able to overtake when required. The TC re-map & ITG air filter I had fitted, gives me the confidence to do so.

Mainly because they use a more conservative map - although I beleive the 2008 model is better

We took some data using a G-tech meter. We shaved off a second or more from the 0-60mph times on the good vehicles, and 3 seconds on the vehicles that I suspect had crap factory settings . have a look at:
http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic13476.html
Now this should be similar for most of the "good" tunes Remap and TTBox available for most vehicles

On the TDV8:
Before
¼ mile 17.05 sec terminal speed 144.2kmh
0-100kmh 9.46 sec
Not too shabby in standard form, actually.
After TorqTune
¼ mile 16.5 sec terminal speed 147.8kmh
0-100kmh 8.66 sec
And this is at 2000m above sea level Remap and TTBox available for most vehicles

But the best TDV6 we have done so far (just had to go back & check my records) gets 10.7 sec 0-60mph after the tune - it was 12.0 before, and that's quick already. Granted this was with outside temp at about 9 deg'c according to the vehicle. Remap and TTBox available for most vehicles

You will certainly notice the midrange punch - makes a big difference when "progressing".
Also, the Td5 Alive remap I had made my D3 much easier to drive at low speeds/revs - very useful with manual transmission.
The 0-60 times are somewhat irrelevant unless you're off drag-racing, but a remapped car will feel significantly quicker off the mark. Discovery TDV6 5-Seat
