I think the base stereo is so poor is to 'up-sell' customers to the ICE system. Laughing

$3650 plus Stamp & LCT hike is way too stiff for $500 worth of difference in a HI-ICE

Australia 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Manual Java Black

Niel,
I upgraded my SE stereo to HSE spec in my 06 D3. I can't remember the price (or maybe I have deliberately forgotten!) Anyway, I had a vey similiar experience - fully functionial (incl sound) on CD or AUX, looked good on radio (either band) but no sound.
I took it to the dealer, diagnonis was inconclusive, although "its got the latest software". It sorted itself only once the dealer discharged the electric system by disconnecting +ive lead, and then joining to the negative terminal with a spanner for 30 secs.

Thanks for that Thumbs Up

How old was the system when it first faulted and how long ago since the shorting procedure
was carried out by your dealer ?
