That would be my main criticism too. There is slight feeling that the quality of some of the equipment isn't quite in keeping with the cost of the vehicle.

"We have plans and products on the design board now – all things being equal, we have a future well beyond 2020.
"We are looking for a replacement for the Range Rover – that is the first model that is going to be replaced – and the second model to be replaced would be the Range Rover Sport.
"We are looking for a decision on those products by the second quarter of 2009. We are hopeful that Solihull will be the place where they place these new models.

Disagree - Totally....when I bought my D3 two years ago I looked at the RRS (well only breifly as it was pouring down with rain as I went to leave the showroom)
Anyway, at the time the basic facts and figures stacked up as three major plus points for the D3
1) D3 = £5k less than RRS for similar spec SE
2) D3 has two more seats
3) D3 has better shaped rear end = more interior space for passengers or stuff
Honest it was only a brief look at an RRS - please don't kick me off the forum.
The D3 also burns less fuel/more MPG than my petrol voyager that it replaced.

JMC - Agree
Most dealers are not up to the quality and price of the product they are selling. I found a good one eventually and have had experience with a superb BMW dealer in the past (yes honestly). That dealer was a single site independent and the LR dealer I used was also an independent. Think the dealer problem is not necessarily related to the marque (but LR could police them better perhaps) but the over reliance on the likes of cr pstones Over 7000 miles of trouble-free motoring......well almost .....(only two visits to dealer and 3 days without)

Sorry J-P, are you talking about your YELLOW EXIGE S when you say 'it looks ugly'?!
Apologies mate, but I'll go out on a limb here and say that you obviously don't know what you're talking about OR you haven't articulated your point well enough. Maybe you could try again. Ill also go out on a limb again and suggest that there are at the very least 4500 owners here who think the D3 is the most amazing vehicle on (and most definately off) the road that there is. It is the ultimate vehicle. Period.
Don't be paranoid.........'They' don't like it!!!!!!!

None of us were particularly keen on the D3 styling when we bought it in 2004. We, like you still hear some ill-informed people say today, thought it looked like a 'van' from behind. We had only seen pictures from the brochure when we ordered it. It was bought because it was it does, rather than how it looks.
It did everything - seated all the kids, dogs, was safe, easy to drive around town, had a big boot for moving furniture between flats, it was comfortable and spacious for regular drives from Edinburgh to London and back - it was bought for its utilitarian uses. In time, though, we all agreed that you'd be hard pushed to find a more handsome vehicle in this category. I think it takes a bit of time at first, it's a dramatic piece of design - but in fact it looks A1 and no other 4x4 comes close DISCO3's Student Correspondent...

I'd have to agree the back has looks that only a mother could love... has definitely grown on me though. I HATED the back when it first came out. And still think the FFRR is a better looking car from the outside (not the RRS though).
That said, plenty of room for improvement until 2014! I'd like to see auto up/down rear windows, adaptive cruise control, rearview camera... Actually, all those things should be there already!
Also keeping my fingers crossed that they'll add an adult-sized hook to hang my dry cleaning in the back when they add the requisite TATA curry hook next year... (hoping I can retrofit that one!)

D3, providing all is working
Functional
Comfortable
Loads of room
Fantastic off road
Fantastic on road
Enough engine power for my use
Plenty of scope for mods and fiddleing with
What more could I need, so no need for model change
PS. second thoughts they could simplifie the electronics
