I used to ride a Vespa GS when I was a youngster. Chrome bubbles, spare wheel in the rack behind the pillion. It was before the days of compulsory crash helmets. I used to wear a Davy Crockett Hat with an arrow though it and a Yogi Bear jacket. Those were the days eh?

I had one of those....red.....wicked car in it's day, til the RS2000 came along.
Actually took the Blade out on Thursday, little 100 mile jaunt. Ended up in Odiham with 100 or so other bikers.
Quite a pleasant little jaunt with 2 other mates, didn't go very fast officer
Was toying with chopping it in for something a bit more sedate but had such a big grin on my face when I got back have decided not to now, tis bloody scary though. Keeping it Claret and Blue

BCC, glad you're going to keep the Blade. Would have been a shame to get rid. Miss my bikes. Thunderace1000YZF and Blade. But since the accident in 99' SWMBO has promised to leave me if I got another! And I'm not into that 'screwing your mode of transport' thing! Must admit, I do like the BM GS. With the topbox and panniers on it's probably the nearest thing to a D3 on two wheels. And you have to admit, love 'im or hate 'im, they did put them through their paces on the Long Way Round - probably more than they have anywhere else. I know KTM have been kicking themselves eversince!
BTW that youtube about the GS is hilarious! Not so sure about the chainsaw one though. Notice you don't actually see it working! Don't be paranoid.........'They' don't like it!!!!!!!

A bit more than you saw in the edit too........
Allegedly, there were several GS's used and which fell apart / were worn-out in Long Way Round, but for contractual reasons (we give you free bikes, you don't show the bad bits) the public were not permitted to know about it.... One of these:
Yes, I ride one. Alternate between off roading and commuting into London. Very much the motorcycle version of the D3, including the problem list!!
I LOVE it though. I also have a Ducati Monster, and it doesn't get a look in. TDV6 HSE - Buckingham Blue with Alpaca
BMW R1200GS - also blue!!

New GS comes with electronically adjustable air suspension! Definitely the 2 wheeled version of the D3.
And of course there's the HP2 - the 2 wheeled version of the D3 with MTRs fitted.

Took one out on a test run once and found only two differences between it and the ST1100
1. SWMBO was perched a bit higher, was holding-on tighter and wasn't going to fall asleep (like she does on the Pan Euro)
2. I simply couldn't keep it below 100mph
Nice bike....... If you are single and can spot the cops at 5000yds! The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom

That's interesting JMC, didn't know that. Like several thousand others no doubt. Isn't that a misrepresentation or somrtrhing else illegal in the Goods Description Act to not state that several bikes were used? Don't be paranoid.........'They' don't like it!!!!!!!

Nope, no such act would apply as this was a television series and used 'actors'. There was no commercial aspect on behalf of BMW - only 'product placement'. If you saw the same bikes start and finish then it is your own conclusion that they were the same ones. Even if they tell you such, this is televisual media entertainment and nothing else. It's not like it was a Panorama investigation.
You would be amazed at what can pass for integrity where free gifts are concerned - just ask a Labour politician. The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom
