Hi,
Me and my family have decided to buy a Discovery 3.
I know this vehicle for a long time , and i have done some research on web about this vehicle.
We are planning to buy the 2008 TDV6 HSE version.
I have seen some complaints about this car on this and other LR3 owners forum.
I would like to ask some questions about these complaints.
1.http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic805.htm...nditioning power issue still exists ?
2. Air Conditioning : I have read some complaints about it, is it for real ? does LR3s have air conditioning problems ? (HSE version the one with the climate control)
if there's, still exist in 2008 ?
And in the early models , i have read that there was a software update which solves some bugs about the system.
Are there still those kind of (air suspension based on software .etc..) problems in the 2008 model ?
Thanks for your time

Lmarion,
I have a 2007 XS, so cannot speak fully for the 2008 HSE. But what I can say is this is the best vehicle I have ever owned. (touching wood)
Yes I have had a problem or two – Fog lights fusing out, EPB squealing, but then I have had problems with a lot of the cars in the past.
What I would say is I would defiantly buy another. JUst hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine,
Ian

Early problems (2004/5) were almost all sorted. 2006 Model onwards was a significant improvement. 2008 should not have any inherent problems as the D3 has been well proven by now. The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom

Lmarion,
I have a MY08 HSE and have no problems at all (touch wood). Previous to this one i had a 55 plate SE and only had some minor issues.
It is an excellent vehicle and am unaware of any recent problems ongoing with the climate control. I hope that you take the plunge and buy one as they are a joy. MY08 JAVA BLACK HSE,

I always remember my friends' astonishment when I announced my intention to go for a British car. They were telling me that it was a bad idea and told me that I should expect lot of problems.
I must say that so far I had no problems (touching woods, of course) apart from those that I made (scratching the alloy wheels when green laining, garage accidents). Although it is a 2006 SE model, but I imagine, the 2008 models should be even further improved.
Once the cruise control went off but an engine re-start sorted out that problem. Never since that occoured.
Although I am up to go to the dealer to fix my left rear view mirror (if it is called in that way) which I bended a little bit inwards when the car leaned over a tree in a tight passage during a green laning .

If it breaks, it's under warranty...
My 2008 V8 HSE is currently getting a new engine because of overheating caused by a faulty thermostat switch. Could it have happened to a Land Cruiser? Yes.
No matter what 4x4 you get - make sure you take at least two cars when you go offroading to remote locations.
The D3 is a fantastic car, and was working perfectly until I had this issue. I miss it and can't wait to get it back!

I have had a 2005MY car and now a 2006MY, the first had issues the second has had none and has now done 40K miles. Every car has problems even Audi Lexus and Porsche, people with gripes tend to be drawn to forums such as this.
Buy one and enjoy it! DS3 TDV6 HSE

I have a 2008.5 HSE and can report;
1. No Aircon probs whatsoever (it is permanently on)
2. No suspension problems whatsoever (this did happen on my MY2005 but was rectified by software
3. Fog light wiring rubbed on metal bracket causing fuses to blow - fixed it myself
4. Almost 13,000 miles completed so far and still grinning 2008 TDV6 HSE

TDV6 HSE bought new in november 2006. 50000 miles. Only problem I've had is the reverse dip mirror not going back to normal position. Sorted with updated software. Do a fair amount offroad with work. Best vehicle in the World for all the right reasons!
Out of interest, what's the price of diesel over there at the moment.
Drove to Istanbul and Ankara a few years back in my Defender. Beautiful country! And loved the Blue Mosque and markets. Not the driving in Istanbul though! Don't be paranoid.........'They' don't like it!!!!!!!

The Air Conditioning is supurb, if it can cope with the weather in UAE I should think that Turkey will not be a problem.
The only issue I have had so far is that the Air Suspension would not rise when it got very hot and stayed down until the compressor cooled! Happened once and never again...touch wood!!!!!!!!!!!
Definately the best vehicle I have ever owned or driven

Hi,
I have a 2008 TDV6 HSE Disco and I love it. A cou ple of weeks into having the car the electronic drivers seat broke but the dealer had it fixed right away and came tpo pick up the car and deliovered it back.
Only issue I have with the Disco3 is the fact it is easy for thieves to steal the spare wheel (19'' alloy will cost circa £600 to replace).
Can't fault the car though.
