Bike Racks not requiring a towbar

Hiya

Can anyone recommend a bike rack that is easy to use and sturdy in order to carry 2 bikes on the back of the Disco?I have not got a tow bar and do not want to get one so it would have to be rack that is 'strapped on' I believe

Many Thanks

Tony

Pointyed -do you have a part number for the Halfords rack?

I want to carry two bikes but only occasionally and don't really want to pay for a tow bar unless absolutely necessary.

Cheers...

Might be completely wrong here, but would it be possible to mount something from where the rear recovery eye is fitted? Question

You are right Martin... design it, patent it and offer it to LR Thumbs Up

Not seen any built for the tow bar receiver either - best mounting point to use and a cable could be fitted to plug into the tow bar electrics if fitted to allow the bleeping reverse bleeps to be disabled and a light board to be powered.

Ah, the perfect solution, only without the need to buy a £300+ towbar from landrover?

Can't see them buying the idea... Whistle

Can anyone help a bit more? I'm in the same position and am finding the Halfords website not the most helpful. Cheers.

In fact do any of the Thule products fit without a tow bar?

I've just bought the Halfords high 3 bike carrier and it fits a dream. Can't open the back door when it's fitted and you have to remove the rear wash wiper fuse, but other than that, at around £58, it's great value!

Cheers. Is the number plate blocked from view? I know the lights will be a bit but what about the number plate? Oh, and I presume the fuse needs to come out as the rear wiper arm would break if used?
