Neil - I haven't heard of remaps for the petrol versions, but my experience with D2 petrol engines that the petrol remaps do not give you significant enough improvements to justify the cost...

Sorry Sad

Australia 2007 Discovery 3 4.0 V6 Petrol SE Auto Java Black

Haven’t really thought about getting my petrol remapped – the 4.0L seems to be enough power for my driving style – I did have a diesel loan car on my last service and got a pretty good lesson in why a remap is handy for the oil burner.

I turned right at a t-intersection with a black Nissan coming my way and got half way into the intersection, applied half throttle as there was a parked car in front of me and full throttle would have meant understeering into it, and then nothing, the car just sat there - I do remember in the second or so that I was sitting there motionless in the middle of the road thinking how sensible I was for taking the optional insurance at $33 per day, and then thinking it would only help my estate as the Nissan was heading straight for the drivers side door at 60kph. Thankfully the woman braked and the Disco’s electronic brain finally kicked in and it took off in the nick of time – definitely the most scared I’ve been in car in many years. If I had a diesel a remap wouldn’t be an option, it’d be a necessity.

Try re-mapping with a V8 - they are about for not too much $$. Flooring it in low range or Sand Mode will probably just about shred all 4 tyres.

I'd be surprised to find anyone offering a remap that gives any real benefits, to get more torque/power out of an engine you need it to flow more air, on a turbo diesel (or turbo anything come to that), this can be achieved by upping the boost, the engine will consequently flow more air with which you can inject more fuel and hence more torque is produced.

In a naturally aspirated engine you would need to make physical changes to the engine (camshaft, bigger valves, overbore etc), to achieve more airflow. By now LR will have the fuel and ignition settings pretty much optimised so I'm not sure there would be any gains in any direction for any remap to offer.
 Cheers

Simon

Sad Take note of some of the links in that thread, some analysis down under showed comments re particulate filtering performance that would concern me.
 Cheers
