Don't worry abt import tax and gst as they are not applicable for value under $1000.

Eh?
Facia Adaptor . So you can put an after market dougle din unit in instead of the LR OEM base head unit. Getting there is half the fun

has been mentioned before but you loose some functionality with the settings menu and steering wheel controls but only doable on the low line unit.

The trim bit is for aftermarket double-din head unit. It is not necessary for Kenwood head unit. It is only Kenwood make the facial. I will buy this trim for my 7" JVC DVD doubld-din player.

Ok guys - thanks for clearing that up. I didn't get round to calling the guy back yesterday so hopefully will remember to ring him Monday morning and we can get things rolling. Formerly Disconutter

Ok Chaps,
I've spoken with the man again and his contact at Kenwood is away on holidays until the 14th July. However, he's happy to do 10+ units at £31.73p each (that's £27+VAT, unfortunately no way round the VAT ), his main concern at present being that Kenwood have sufficient in stock for this.
I'm going to assume the units weight 750g, they are boxed in 25x27x11cm each so on that p&p would be around the £10 mark per unit. Had a look at sending them all together as one parcel, but that works out between £100-155 depending on courier and speed of delivery - so may as well send individually.
Unless you have someone coming to the UK who's will to carry these back for you as "presents" it's going to be approx £42 per unit - Does this still make it viable? Formerly Disconutter

Price is viable but not sure what the weight would be but would think 750 grams is too high but we can assume that ten quid is the most it will be.
What do others think?
We'll have to see what Kenwood have. Getting there is half the fun

I still think you have to pay it and claim it back. It could be got around by one person buying all the units and claiming back the VAT on the orig invoice. The problem is the seller won't export so will only sell VAT inclusive. It is not really worth the hassle claiming VAT on one unit. Getting there is half the fun

When you leave the old empire CW, you may well indeed be able to claim your VAT back. But our masters have to have it paid to them first. You then wait many months for a refund

Well put Simon.
CaverD3 - I'm happy to jump on the plane and bring these to you - providing you guys are happy to pay the return airfair
Basically the only way the deal with this supplier is going to work, is for someone (me probably) to pay for them in the UK and collect them. Then it's up to us as to how we deal with them from there on - and at present that seems to mean VAT will be part of the cost.
I can see how CW as a non-UK resident can claim the VAT back on his way home, but I don't think it's possible for a UK Resident. Formerly Disconutter
