I liked the Fortuner very much when it was released and found it to be solid and well mannered on gravel and corrugations. However the reports are alarming. I saw the video of the moose-test and how unstable the Hilux appeared to be compared to say the Triton. But the same thing happened to the Discovery-1 many years ago and LR swept it under the carpet.. or am I wrong? Did they do something about it? I imagine Toyota will do likewise: keep as quite as possible and maybe change the suspension set-up in newer models, which is what happened to the DIsco. And the DIsco was made safer. I have heard so many mixed reports about Fortuner.. most very favourable and some, like yours, disturbing. But it has put me off the vehicle until I know more.
