Just been advised by the dealer that service is due on my 56 Plate Disco 3.Mileage is 13500(Only 6500 in the last 12 months(Bought second hand and had the dealer service it for me before I collected).I asked about the price for the service today and have been told that as this will be the second service I will have to pay for the 30,000 mile service at a whopping £456 despite having done less than 15000 miles. Is this the norm? The price for the 15000 mile service is 150 quid less.I am told by the dealer that the extra cost is due to an extra hour of service time at 100 quid plus vat, 60 quid for more oils, a pollen filter, air filter, breater filter? and oil filters. The nearest alternative dealer is 60 miles away. Are these prices the norm or should I shop around

you've answered your own question - shop around. Ask Nick @ yeovil for a price - not too much of a day out from South Wales.

Great service all round. If you are annoying me, just remember it takes 42 muscles for me to frown and only 4 to extend my middle finger, and I'm lazy so don't be offended.

Thanks Snowy. Just came off the phone from a very nice guy at Likes(STILL THERE AT THIS TIME!)Considerably cheaper for a 30,000 mile service(2nd service) and will fit in the re-call work as well.Even with the cost of fuel they are a lot cheaper than my local dealer which is 2 miles from the house. He even offerred to drop me off in Hay on Wye and come and collect me at my convenience

Lucky if I get 23 MPG driving roung the game shoot and round town, get about 30MPG on a run as long as I stick at 75 MPH, it plummets if I go over this....
AndrewS recommended JV Like to me. Last week was the first time I have used them, and very impressed. If you are annoying me, just remember it takes 42 muscles for me to frown and only 4 to extend my middle finger, and I'm lazy so don't be offended.

Well I would not take my vehicle to JV Like even if it was the last dealership on earth!!! - I have put up with poor service, excuses, lies & deception from them for last 4 years. I recently sacked them and insisted they return my vehicle with immediate affect - when delivered back nothing had been fixed and several other items were found not to be working including the whole of the audio system which was not on the original fault list!!!.
Several others on this forum have the same beliefs also!
Steer well clear - cheaper they maybe but cost is not everything.

You can take the JV Like price and beat up the Stratstines dealers with it. They have a poster up in Newport about price matching so should do so with that price. ISTR I got my 30k service there for £350. Speak to Phil & say Derek said to give you an extra good price! Honda Dog U better DUCK!!!!!

Any idea what gets done on the 2nd service. Pricey says its £60 for extra oils, what other oil is changed apart from the engine oil ?

Well my 3 is due its second year service (26K) on the clock, rang Stratstones in Cardiff and was quoted £420 inc vat and the use of a courtesy car. Told them I have been quoted £340 inc from J V Likes and they price matched it! Had a phone call 30 mins later saying that they could not match the price and they could do it for £375 inc.
I have emailed Yeovil Landrover for a quote and will ring J V Likes again tomorrow to see what they come up with. Anyone have a price/quote for the second service? Discovery TDV6 SE (06)

Muppets! For the sake of £35, they lose both credibility & a customer. Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana
