Like D'Arkuk, I also cannot fault the service I have just received at GS. Helen and Martin and the rest of the service team have done a first class job.
First thing, they reasonably price matched in the local area, yes it can be got cheaper at distant dealers, but the willingness to sensibly match a price is appreciated. Also it was very apparent that not all dealers have any idea what is needed in this service, GS were on the ball straight away with the requirement.
The car is out of warranty, and the steering wheel was showing all the signs of some of the problems that much newer cars are experiencing - ie wearing out rapidly. As a goodwill gesture, GS have fitted a brand new leather steering wheel Free of Charge.
The car was valeted to an extremely high standard, with all the carpets thoroughly cleaned and they even gave the wheels and tyres the special treatment! It looks fantastic
During a conversation with the workshop when they rang me to keep me updated, I mentioned to John the engine rev fluctuation I was getting under acceleration. The auto gearbox has had its adaptive memory reset, it is driving much smoother, and the rpm fluctuation I have suffered under power seem much reduced, so its not a cure but an improvement. It would seem that the adaptive gearbox is very clever, but learns bad habits and needs 're-educating' from time to time.
Well done GS Silver TDV6 HSE

Hi Gareth, how did it go with the belt? (the one at the back of the engine), obviously from your post GS (Stockport) where superb, but this is meant to be a of a job, did it take them long? and was it expensive? Brute force and ignorance, the D3 does the rest.

They had the car for 2 days, but I was away on business so no pressure. The service was £598 all inc. I've no idea how hard the belt job is. Silver TDV6 HSE

I'm intrigued, God knows what they need to do to get to it, doesn't seem like such a bad price either for such a big service. Brute force and ignorance, the D3 does the rest.

Were they aware that you were a site moderator here and so favoured you with great service? The steering wheel must have been a particular relief.
Anyway, good luck to you. How long do you intend to run your disco out of warranty? TDV6 SE Auto Zermatt silver with Alpaca Leather

I would hope that the level of service I get is of a level available to everybody.
I know the staff at GS look on here, and I will always give public credit where its due. There are several other forum members who frequent the dealership.
I would never use the forum as a form of leverage to get favours from a dealer. They know the value of customer service, they also know that happy customers talk about it. Unhappy customers go elsewhere.
The steering wheel was a nice gesture. It was annoying that it had deteriorated so suddenly, and I would have paid for a new one if asked to.
I intend to keep the car until I can afford another one, prefferably with a 3.0 engine, and a co2 output less than 225gm/km
The workshop have told me my car is 'solid' and good for many many more miles yet Silver TDV6 HSE

I think Guy Salmon in general try hard to do a good job and keep you informed on progress especially if you show some interest in what they are doing.

SimonH, believe me when I tell you that I've not always been impressed with Guy Salmon (Stockport) in particular when I purchased my D3, if you do search you will find my posts. I don't post about a Stealer when things are OK or mundane, I post about a Stealer when they are bad or very good. I can happily tell you that things at GS (Stockport) have changed and that they are still continually improving, for me and others that I've talked to both connected to the Disco3.co.uk site and off it, they have reached a point of excellence. I think Mick's also right, show some interest, get to know them, there a good lot. Brute force and ignorance, the D3 does the rest.

GS Stockport seems like one of [if not] the best dealers in the uk!
But, mine is also in for it's big 105k service.
I chose Stratstone in Stockton because they negotiated the best deal for me ..... by far.
So far, they have been exceptonal with similar service to GS Stockport
BUT, I aint getting it back until tomorrow, so will report then on a specific 'Stratstone, Stockton' thread. Blessed are the cracked, for they shall let in the light.

My experiences have been in line with Dark'Uu - sales was not perfect (basically they lied to me over my vehicles origins) but servicing and resolution of warranty issues have been exceptional ever since

I thought it was body-off or engine out to get to it - but maybe I dreamt that. Can't believe they've done either of those for that price, so there must be an easier route.

It used to be John.
They now have special tools that allow it to be done in situ. Blessed are the cracked, for they shall let in the light.
