Dan and I got the install done over the weekend. Took about 12 hours start to finish, was pretty exhausting but worth it I think. I'm lovin' it
Thanks Wiggs & everyone for all your input with this!!!
There are pics in my gallery http://www.disco3.co.uk/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=2136
I'll post up some install details soon as I get a moment here. I'm not so good at giving advice...may I offer you a sarcastic comment instead?

|
Hello, i have a LR3 that didnt come with the NAv system , has double diin radio but the Auxiliar audio jack that comes between the seats is not installed. Anyway to activate it, plug it or wire it behind the radio without having to buy any expensive box?
Thanks

Nice Install Did you do anything with the speakers or just leave them as stock? Need black RRS wheel centre caps.
Now with added Engel.....

Thanks Bods & SN
I left the stock speakers, but was bummed that the stock subwoofer was performing really poorly (not that it was great to begin with) with the new system. You couldn't tell the sub was even on, stereo just sounded muddy if volume was turned up This last weekend I got a new subwoofer and amp to drive it which Dan (grudgingly ) helped me install. Sounds much much better now, a lot more clear & you can really feel the thump! I'm still not completely satisfied with the sound quality though...oh how one thing leads to another I had to cut myself off, but would like to upgrade the speakers and run an amp for them too.
I found great deals on fleabay for the AV controller, video screen, and nav unit - those three totalled 1/2 off retail (My good ol' Scottish blood in action ) In all (Controller, iPod kit, screen, nav, and BT kit) it cost ~$1250USD plus about $230 for the new sub and amp. Not too shabby! If I'd gotten everything from Crutchfield & had them install I imagine it would be at least $2000 more than that. I'm not so good at giving advice...may I offer you a sarcastic comment instead?
