Strange thing is that it seems fairly irrelevant now, in the light of the increases in diesel since the road tax went up.
(I was going to put increases in diesel "cost" but of course that's untrue - it hasn't suddenly cost more to produce, it's just that the producers have us over a barrel) D3 number 3: 08 TDV6 SE Stormygrey /owlpacker

So now I've had my 2005 vehicle devalued by about £4,000 because the Government announced something they now don't think they can get away with !!! Another u-turn that costs me money.
Nice going - idiots.
(Am I supposed to feel good about saving £200 on road tax?) Paul

Taxed mine earlier this week for six months so renewal would have meant next time would have been before increase next April, and I would tax for twelve months at the current rate. So now, if they do drop the big hike, the muppets have cost me an extra £10 for trying to beat the system

I can't see Potting Brown preventing this going ahead; they'll just make it sound 'fairer' by making it retrospective back to 1945 or some other such carp.
Whether or not they climb down on this, I've been shafted by so many of Potting's ludicrous taxes since Bliar got in that I know they'll find something else to shaft me with and leave my financial @rse in tatters.
Whatever they do, the only given is that our economy is screwed and it's going to take decades to fix it. I'm starting to feel that it's financially worth my while jacking in my well paid job and living on the social; this is after all the only job choice that is actively promoted and rewarded rather than being punished.
Stopping now, feel a full blown rant coming on... Give a man a fire and he's warm for the day. But set fire to him and he's warm for the rest of his life.

All our hopes on this are dashed.
Wucking Fankers the lot of them.
the Treasury's take from the rising costs of car tax would increase from £1.9bn in 2006 to £4.4bn in 2010, but without helping the environment.
See http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/7484478.stm
The Govt is simply on the take from motorists, at every opportunity with little or none of the revenue going towards making ANY environmental difference at all.
However, they can at least line their own pockets with some of our cash by voting themselves a nice big, inflation busting, pay rise, improved pensions and second home allowances, plus extortionate expenses claims tax free and without the need for a receipt.
No wonder they need to tax motorist so much.
They are all as corrupt as the Governments they overthrow (home and abroad!).

Unless you bought your car just after 28th March when you were supposed to be telepathic and know they were going to double car tax. If there is a climb down, we will get stuffed even more. Honda Dog U better DUCK!!!!!
